Budweiser's Super Bowl ad in Canada

  • SIAP. A pretty excellent commercial, too bad it's not being aired in the U.S.

  • That kind of gave me chills. Had to be awesome for those guys.

  • Really disappointed that it's not airing in the U.S. Even non-hockey fans can appreciate it, I think...certainly more than those tired horse commercials.

The extras were apparently hired to "watch a sporting event" and were paid $150 to do it...basically a real version of the B1GCG.

  • Wow. That's incredible.

  • I think that's a great spot. Clever idea and well produced.

Here's the cynic in me--and I just can't hold back. In what I am assuming is a small town/community, how did it not get spread around to the players that this was what was going to happen? I just don't believe that it was the surprise that they want us to believe it was.

Still, a strong production. Well done.

I wonder if they have a version planed for the US where the teams are like rec football or baseball leagues?

  • Love it. The guy sitting at the end and just taking it all in gave me the chills. An amazing feeling to be in that type of situation.

All indications are that they had zero clue. I don't think it'd be hard to bus people in from neighboring towns/cities or whatever. For sure anyone who signed up was kept in the dark about exactly what they were doing.

  • That was sick. Wow! Too bad none of them probably banged the puck sluts that had their stomachs painted.

  • Nice sentiment, but I can see why it's only in Canada. In Canada, hockey is more important than religion. Here, it's a fringe sport at best.

  • That was totally cool. GREAT idea. Agree it's a shame it won't show in the US, I'd sure as heck vote for it as 'best commercial'. And also agree that you don't need to be a hockey fan to appreciate that. Anybody who's ever played in a rec sports league of any kind can get into it. (EDIT - And not only that, but if you're even a casual hockey fan some of those goals were pretty damn impressive, especially for a rec league. Of course, it is Canada).

I wonder if they prepped the fans with any team info or scouting reports? "OK, you ten are the fan club for #20 on the Hawks - here are some cheers to use"
