  • Good luck. Even with antibiotics, prescription cough medicine, all the OTC stuff invented, I'm finally getting rid of the "cold" or whatever it is that's going around.

    BTW, it's day 13 for me.

    I have been pounding Emergen-C, Tylenol Cold, Zicam. Eating lots of chicken soup. And taking Nyquil before bed.

    I keep worrying that I am pulling a Whitney Houston deadly cocktail here. scared (Too soon?)

    The cold going around is some nasty shit. I've had it for about 2 weeks and took 2 days off of work this week. I'm back in the office today but am seeing my Dr. later. I've tried just about everything from Robutussin to Nyquil. The only thing that clears my sinuses for a while is Afrin and I'm about to stop this as it needs to be used with care.

  • I had one in early January for about 14 days, and just got whatever the hell it is going around 2 weeks ago today...almost gone at this point. It started with weird body aches, as though I was coming down with the flu, but those went away and then the sore throat and blocked ear came. The ear is still blocked a bit, but the sore throat went away a few days ago. This is the first year I've had colds like this.

    My 2.5 yr old daughter was just diagnosed with RSV and spent 2 days in the hospital. My wife has a nasty cold and I'm coming down with it. You're not kidding about nasty stuff.

  • I've been battling a sinus infection-type thing for like 2 months now. It seems to effect me for a week and then it's gone and then it comes back. Is this the upper respiratory thing that's going on? Haven't been able to sleep the last couple of days.banghead

    Worst I've ever had by far. Drowning it painkillers and anti inflammatories is doing basically nothing.

    Marriage is like flying with kids, if the flight had 500 connections, never ended, Ted Striker were your pilot and you ate the fish.

    Nyquil is great. I only wished they made a margarita flavor to go with their regular and cherry flavors.

  • I started getting a faucet-style runny nose a couple days ago, and immediately went to the Zicam. Considering that I take a ton of vitamins and Vitamin C every day, this cold is obviously one with the potential to be something fierce. Hope it never progresses past the point of a minor problem, because I have big plans for the weekend.

    Yeah, this sounds similar to what I have. Started as a very runny nose, but I also had/have sore throat and a good amount of fatigue. Pretty shitty.

    Mostly wait it out but my Dr. said zinc and vitamin C are helpful. For my case which he diagnosed as a bacterial infection, he prescribed a Z pack (antibiotics).

  • there is some seriously tenacious and nasty shit going around this year. I honestly average a cold every 2.5 years or so...but i've been sick 5 of the last 6 weeks - with a week break last year and then bam, this brutal cold hits this week. already went through influenza and an upper respiratory infection that resulted from that. oh, and explosive diarrhea for a few days in there. that was fun.

    down here in the KC area there have been school closings because of some of the bugs going around. everyone at work seems to be sick...it's just been a truly awful winter, which is odd considering how mild it's been.

  • My sister was sick all last week (running nose, cough, body aches, fever, all the rest of that Vietnamese BS). She finally felt better last weekend so my parents decided to make the trip to EL to take her & I out to dinner. I was already feeling sick by the end of the night. Luckily it was only bad enough to affect my sleep for one night. I've been dealing with the chills and aches all week but I'm basically back to 100% today. Gotta love having a strong immune system.
