COPS v. Alaskan State Troopers - Better Porcine TV show?

    Basically the same shows.... COPS is obviously the original cop show, great theme song, lots of interesting action in various places around the country over the years, some awesome pigs - my favorite is Officer Mel Gonzales from Cleveland. I'll never forget that dude hanging out of the passenger seats of the cruiser firing off 12 gauge rounds at some crackhead... but Alaskan State Troopers is also pretty damn entertaining. The cops visit remote areas in Alaska and deal with similar issues in a harsh, unforgiving environment. So which is the better pig show?

    I have watched every Alaska State Troopers show for the last three or four years. That show completely grips me.

    Probably helps I've been on a few camping trips up there and find it physically gorgeous. Funny thing is that even though it's very pretty, the people there are on average some of the most bizarre humans anywhere. The natives are a little off and a ton of folks who move up there from the lower 48 came to escape problems back home.

  • I really like watching Alaskan State Troopers. The problems they have there are not something we are used to here. It's interesting to see cops riding around in snowmobiles and quads.

    Cops just seemed to deal with a bunch of dumbasses. Granted AST has their more than their share of dumbasses as well.

  • I have no idea how true this is, but I heard that Alaskan cops won't serve out of state felony warrants. Most places will because they agree felonies are bad, and the perps need to face justice. But supposedly, Alaska has so many people that flee felony arrest in the lower 48, and with the remote dwellings up there, the Alaskan cops would rather live with a felon in their community than arrest him and send him back to where ever he has a warrant.
