Get the cheapest legal bat you can get. Its maybe a one year bat unless your kid grows between now and the first pitch.
I have seen gung ho parents of kids I coach spend $100+ on a youth bat and can't figure out why the kid with a hand me down or a bat off the sale rack at Target/Meijers is a better hitter.

Ten year olds don't need new bats. They need practice. If you really want to help him put up an old bedsheet in the garage and flip him baseballs until he is confident he can hit it. It's one of the most overlooked things. If he gets used to making solid contact in practice it'll boost his confidence so much more in games. Just my two cents.
