I'm a self-admitted grammar nazi, but even I think this takes it too far (yes, I intentionally left off the THAT just to piss you off).

what is this an english class?

This is a sports message board. If you expect proper grammar from every post, you're in for a bad experience. Also, you have 13 total posts and havent decide to use one for this? I don't think that you'll go over well on this board. Just my two cents, take it for what it's worth

I take pride in knowing that the word 'THAT' is understood to be implied in many sentences by most people above 4th grade reading level. Next.

Plenty of respected writers have used "that" as a relative pronoun to refer to human beings. And not even Fowler would back you up your supposed run-on sentence rule.

I get more upset at folks who fail to understand the distinction between "that" and "which" in relative clauses, which makes it quite difficult at times for more careful writers to suss out the actual versus intended meaning.

alcove- Yes, writers will use 'that' to refer to people. However, this is usually in fictional stories to help create a realistic tone. In all serious writing, 'who' will be used.

this place needs more humor police than grammar police.

most of this board is horribly unfunny.

There's a difference between friends and family IMO. I'd appreciate it if you kept that in mind.

I believe THAT, technically, the period goes INSIDE the set of single apostrophe marks you used (which I'm thinking should be double apostrophe marks).

Aren't you missing a question mark in there professor?
