Chinese Food - What's Your Order Like?

  • The NFL Playoffs + College Basketball are in full swing. I watch most of the bigger games at one of the sports pubs in my Seattle neighborhood, but I have a decent TV-viewing experience (40" Samsung LCD TV + Blu-Ray + Internet TV) for when I want to stay at home.

Nothing is better than consuming some Chinese food + beer on a gameday, what do you order?
    My go-to order:
-Sesame Chicken (extra spicy, see pic)
    -Brown Rice
    -Steamed Broccoli

I make sure to hit the store for a sixer of Rogue Dead Guy Ale beforehand.

  • There is a place on 23 mile and Card called New China Gourmet. That place has the freshest Chinese food around. I normally get coconut shrimp with shrimp fried rice.

"23 Mile"? I never realized people called them mile roads after 16/17 mileish. And if I were to order some chinese it would be pepper chicken w/ rice from this place called Big bowl, but I don't think it exists in Michigan.

  • When in Michigan, it's got to be almond boneless chicken. Don't know why, but you can't find it anywhere else. Outside of Michigan, in Chicago where I live now, it's hot and sour soup, chicken lo mein, egg rolls, and general tso's chicken. Nothing fancy, but hard to get wrong.

  • I went with some General Tsao's, white rice, and an eggroll from Rice Kitchen last night watching the Niners-Saints game. I started drinking a Labatt but it tasted terrible with the food so I stopped.

We usually go with an order from a great Thai place down the road........I get the red curry shrimp....

is that a normal order item for most chinese joints? i thought that was almost strictly a creation of PF Changs.

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included... so I had to buy them again. What do batteries run on?

  • Extra, extra spicy broccoli and mixed vegetables. Vegetable spring roll too.

  • Either szechuan chicken or Kung Pao chicken, egg drop soup, white rich, two spring rolls.

The only time I eat Chinese is for lunch, because it's much cheaper and includes everything. When I order for dinner it costs like $25, and I'd rather go get a steak for that price.

It is a common dish. Marinated beef strips with stallion and white onion.

My go to is spicy chicken Pad Thai from Thai Express in Kentwood.

ABC is a solid choice. I moved from MI a few years ago, but there's a place in my old 'hood that prepares it wonderfullythumbsup

Some might argue Labatt tastes terrible, period. But to each his/her own

  • My go to is Kung Pao Chicken. Sometimes I will do the Sesame. If it's a legit place I like the Szechwan or Mongolian Beef... but if I think the restaurant serves cat or dog then I only go with chicken. No Szechwan Beef can beat PF Chang's... how ever they make it crispy can not be duplicated. But, I rarely go to PF Changs anymore.

$25 for chinese feeds my family of 4. 2 big entrees,, soups and spring rolls. Still have plenty leftover sometimes. Where the fuck do you live?

  • Where is a good Chinese place in/near Troy? I've tried many of them and think they're all nasty. Kim's on Long Lake and Livernois was supposed to be excellent but we've tried it 2 or 3x and it's been horrible each time.

Ever tried Ho Wah at Dequindre and Big Beaver? I get lunch carry out from there every now and then and it the best within a 3-4 mile drive near me.

This Mongo Beef seems to be a popular item. I've eaten at PFChang's a dozen times, but have never seen this item. Pics anyone?
