Compromise. Buy the cheaper dog, the rest of the money for a boob job for the wife. Everybody wins.

Yikes... I'd go the adoption route and if not that, the cheaper route. Thousand(s) is just nuts!

They typically stop racing when they're 5, if not earlier. Many are adopted at that point, and lead healthy lives in retirement. But if not, yeah they do kill a good number that are no longer racing. The point we can all agree on; there are plenty of dogs that need to be rescued, so go that route if you can.

chocolate labs are not mean. labs in general are very affectionate and good with other dogs, people and kids.

We paid $300 for our pure bred chocolate & I wouldn't think of paying more. Great dog, but my mutt before her probably had a better personality.
