Not wasting your time doing something that adds no value to you, sounds like he's pretty smart to me. But in all seriousness; I hope he makes it in the NFL because with that approach to the value of intelligence and knowledge he's doomed if he were to not make. Even if he does I'll peg him now as the next player to end up bankrupt.

If you were a NFL owner, GM or head coach, would you want a guy like that on your team? Not me.

While the NFL can utilize any test they want (totally their choice as employers), the skill of a football player is the ability to play football. Oh, and to get paid more than each of us.

Part of which is remembering the plays, which Desmond Howard apparently could never master.

I would. He can play football. That is what he is being paid to do. He's not being paid to take an IQ test

Assuming he's telling the truth & not covering up his illiteracy, it says something about his character. When presented with a challenge, his first thought was to come up with a reason why he shouldn't do it. Everybody probably knows at least 1 kid like this.

"I can't because..."
"I don't want to because..."

He had to sit there through the time limit either way, so why not accept the challenge & give it your best shot?

IMHO, that kind of mindset applies to everything in life, including football. Maybe he grows out of it, but sounds like a quitter to me.
