Coach Izzo's comments about Lucious tonight

  • I'm glad Izzo said it. I mean, Izzo never BS's anyone and once again he is telling the truth. Would you rather have Lucious on this team? No f'in way. Korie made his choices, and now he can rot with his buddy in Ames.

Just being selfish because I don't want to see it blown up by the Blue Wall leading into next week's game, which has of course already happened.

Yes, this exchange will have a SERIOUS impact on the outcome of the Michigan game! The smoldering embers of last seasons struggles will get fanned into a forest fire by the media! The team will read this and they will plunge into freefall, unable to deal with the scrutiny this will bring to the program! Why, I bet Johnny B. has already pinned up the article on the bulletin board. He will no doubt bring it up at every subsequent Wolverine practice. "Boys, don't forget that Izzo was asked a question last week about a former player who was dismissed from the team and answered it honestly. When you need motivation to beat Michigan State on your home floor, don't forget the way he insulted that player. That player transferred to Iowa State, where the great Johnny Orr coached. A Michigan Man! They insult the player, they insult Iowa State! They insult Iowa State they insult Johnny Orr! They insult Johnny Orr they insult us! Are you going to take that? Are you?????"

    Press Release:
    January 11, 2012

UM athletic department has announced the 1/17 game against MSU will be "Korie Lucious day." Lucious, of whom MSU coach Tom Izzo was speaking when he recently said he would rather have his current players than "the guy I had," will be honored at halftime by placing his number 34 next to the numbers of the members of the Fab Five who also never officially played a game for UM. Also, the UM basketball support staff will be placing the numbers "3" and "4" on the players' shoes instead of the usual "left foot" and "right foot" stickers they normally use.

When asked if the Maize Rage student section would be holding a moment of silence for Lucious, Michigan Head Coach John Belein answered, "We thought about it, but we wondered if anyone would actually notice any difference."

In lieu of gifts, attendees are asked to donate monetary contributions to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of East Lansing.

    I love lamp.

how could Korie Lucious possibly have any - ANY - relevance to the Michigan game?

I didn't explain myself very well. What I meant was that it is likely some Blue Wall slapdick will use the very mention of Korie, and Izzo's comments, as a reason to revive all of last year's drama as part of the hype for the game at Crisler. Obviously it wont have any impact on the game itself.

    Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

  • Lucious had a decent freshman year, and a very good tourny sophomore year. He was a turnover machine most of his sophomore season and couldn't throw a stone in the ocean last year. My nickname for him used to be KLIT(korie lucious is turnover).

Lucious fucked up. Why is Izzo out of line by saying it?

And more to the point, why the fuck do we still care about Korie Lucious? He was given every chance to be happy and successful at one of the finest public universities in the Uniited States in MSU (that's right...SUCK it, SCum...it' s true whether you'll admit it or not), and he fucked it up. Royally, and repeatedly. I loved the last second shot against Maryland as much as anyone, but the bad far outweighed the good with this kid.

Let it go, people. SCREW Korie Lucious.

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone please inform me of what Korie did to get kicked off? All I know about is the drunk driving issue. What was the final blow?

Disclaimer: The kid clearly was immature and was not a good thing for our team. Not sad that he is gone and not looking to defend him in any way. I'll just remember fondly the moment his shot went in against Griefus.

There are a few "theories", that he failed multiple drug tests, and dined and dashed at the local red lobster, or stole condoms from the wal mart after dining and dashing. It was a pretty classy date when all was said and done.

  • The more relevant question, and the one more dangerous and sad for Izzo to answer honestly, is whether it is a net positive that Delvon Roe had to retire.

If some Numbskull asked Izzo that question I would expect Izzo to say: "If Roe hadn't retired, we'd be 17-0 right now..."

Yeah, dangerous but interesting. If Roe were used lightly, this team would be way more awesome than it is now even. With 12mpg out of Roe, you can basically give Green an extra couple minutes rest, skip Gauna except in blowouts, and never have to go small. (Plus you have foul trouble insurance up the wazoo.) But if Izzo stuck with starting Green and Roe together, i'm not so sure we'd be as good as 14-2. Roe leaving has forced us to play a real post game with real centers, and it's probably been a motivational help for Payne and Nix knowing they have to develop NOW.

you know his knees are basically destroyed right? we'd be lucky to get 5 mpg out of him.

  • Why do we have to be crass about former players, each of whom helped MSU to success and final four appearances? KLif graduated, KLush is gone, Chris Allen is gone. Let's thank them for their service and shut up like the adults we are supposed to be. In my book Lucas is one of the great Spartan winners who simply could not stay healthy his last year. I will not diss a block S letter winner unless he/she disses MSU and I/we have no evidence of that. For me, the case is closed and let's move on to the team we have (which IS better!).

We like him because he is candid. Just because this instance doesn't rub you the right way doesn't mean he should have bit his tongue.

I wish he would have been "Knight " like regarding that stupid question.

Lucious doesn't post anything negative that he writes himself really on twitter. But he will repost a lot of stuff slurping him and dogging the spartans cause hes not there anymore. Clearly there is some bad blood there.

    Case and point.
