Winning at UM is very possible. Beilein has done a much better job than Amaker did, despite Amaker getting some decent talent to AA (Horton, Harris, Manny Harris, Sims, etc...). Amaker shit the bed completely at UM; you think Duke would trust the impossible task of replacing one of the greatest coaches in history to a man that failed spectacularly in the Big 10?
Duke will have their selection of the best young coaching minds in the game; namely Brad Stevens if they want him.
Why leave as long as the Ivy has a guaranteed NCAA bid.
Mrs.Amaker is the most valuable member of the Amaker pair to Harvard.
Maybe he doesn't want to be a 14 seed the rest of his career.
And somebody might pay him more money.
Better than no seed.
He can make the tourney 80-90% of the time playing in the Ivy. In the B1G he has to play against 10-11 better programs to get to .500.
Northwestern would be stupid to hire him.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
He's made it 2 times in 6 years.
If he gets to the Sweet 16, he'll get some offers. Why would it be stupid for them to hire Amaker?
because he isn't a good coach. he won't win at NW
Is Carmody a good coach?
I don't think you understand what coaching a team with sanctions means. NCAA tourney ban and two years of probation.
It also imposed an additional two years' probation and docked the school one scholarship a year from 2004–2005 until 2007–2008.
Add on the facilities were a dump and all I can say is good luck getting recruits. it takes more than those ugly adidas uniforms to haul kids to that school.
Amaker took on a shit job and I doubt Beilein could of done much better under those circumstances.
does it matter?
If NW wants to win and eventually get to the tourney, Amaker isn't the guy.
Why are you reluctant to answer the Carmody question?
what does he have to do with Amaker?
Amaker seems like a genuinely good person...smart, care about his players, tries to do it the right way. He was overwhelmed with the rebuilding task at Michigan and failed to craft a program there with much of a personality, a playing style, etc. That said, Harvard seems like an excellent fit for his coaching style and skill, and I think it'd be foolish on his part to take another stab at the Big Ten with another rebuilding project, but one that is hamstrung from success in a far greater way than Michigan. There might be another job that would entice Amaker. The one that pops to mind that might come open is Wake Forest......

Nothing...if you refuse to answer the question.
I'd say Bill is a mediocre coach. He got unlucky with some injuries the last couple of years, but NW stuck with him long enough. I don't think Amaker is a big upgrade over him.
And....I do believe his wife is on staff at Havard as well
This is the backup plan to landing Izzo.
Northwestern is expected to interview Duke assistant Chris Collins for its head-coaching job next week,...
She likes the turtleneck
My need to arm wrestle his former running mate (Johnny Dawkins) for the job.
Dawkins isn't exactly setting the world on fire at Stanford. He hasn't made the Tournament in 5 years as a head coach.
Mrs. Amaker is the academic superstar and Harvard is about as good as it gets. Coach Amaker has upgraded recruiting and make Harvard what Princeton was under Pete Carill.
Meanwhile Dr. Stephanie Pinder-Amaker PhD is a psychology instructor Harvard at Harvard Medical School and Director of College Mental Health dept. at McLean Hospital that's a Harvard Medical School affiliate. While at umma she was one of the best fund raisers they had. Umaa lost more money when she left than they did with poor attendance in Crisler.
Amaker can be Harvard's version of Izzo and they have made sure his wife is well compensated too.
I think Amaker had some decent recruits at Seton Hall.
Harvard basketball had not won an Ivy League title since 1956 when he arrived. He now has won or shared 1st place 3 years in a row.
He's stepped up the level of players, the other teams will have to adapt or fall behind.
