I started watching the Cubs in the mid-90s, and that's when I fell in love with them. Watching my favorite team lose 85-90+ games just feels right.
That said, the starting rotation could end up being decent this year, and Castro and Rizzo will make for at least two bright spots. Mark the Cubs down for 75 wins, minimum.

A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
Not to mention Valbuena striking out right in front of Lillibridge. It was 1st and 2nd with no outs. Then back to back strike outs to blow it. At least they got the W, but they will be harder to come by if they keep pissing those kinds if scoring chances away.
Mid NINETIES? I got underwear older than that.....I started watching them in the summer of '77.....Tigers games were rarely on back then: FUCKING WGN.....fuck YOU for putting those games on after school....evil bastids
I was only born in 1988, so I think I did alright, all things considered. WGN got me too. Between the spring training game I caught against the Brewers (back when they were an AL team) and the blue and red jacket I had at the time, little 7 year old me didn't stand a chance. If I'd known what lay ahead, I may have forsaken baseball altogether...
Cubs and Tigers are undefeated
laying in the weeds
Happy about the Opening Day win, but I have no clue how this team doesn't lose 100 or 102 games this year.
Big fan of Darwin Barney and Starlin Castro, but, god, the rest of that roster is depressing. (And, of course, Barney gets tossed on the DL after busting his knee open in the last Spring Training game.)
Castro needs to work on his attention span and his fielding. More brain farts and air mailed throws than just about anyone else in the majors.
Chance to win the series against Pittsburgh right now...up 1-0 heading to the 9th. I'm just curious who comes out to close. Wouldn't be shocked one bit if Marmol stays in the pen.

There was an article in the tribune this morning about Sveum and the pitching coach defending Marmol and how they'll stick with him.
Two run homer top 9 to give them a 3 run lead, so they brought him in. Wonder if that would have been the case with a 1 run lead.
Btw, he gave up a lead off single....followed by a walk. So he brought the tying run to the plate in about 9 pitches.
Different season same Marmol.
Marmol pulled that save out of his ass but I'm so ready for Fujikawa to take over the closer role.
Single, walk, single, single (two runs scored), SO, DP.
2 earned runs.
That's good, right? I don't know because that's pretty standard for Marmol.
Cubs > Tigers
...and I am a fan

Lol fuck marmol. Should insert fukijawa as closer
Let's wait until we have a little bigger sample size on this one. I would need 20 games in the standings before I'd take the cubs.
no, the Cubs are smart to keep Marmol at closer. They arent competing this year, and Marmol wont be on the team when they are competing. If Marmol can close, he has some value at the deadline and can help the Cubs continue their rebuilding. Make him a 6th/7th inning guy, he has no value, and Cubs wont be able to move him.
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
Wanna make a bet on that?
LOL marmol never fails at failing
That was awesome.
Top prospect Jorge Soler went crazy during game in Daytona, attacked opposing dugout with bat.
Details are still scarce, but apparently on of Chicagos second baseman.
that's..........perfect. The kid could be willie mays, hank aaron and Joe D. all wrapped up into one package but you KNOW as soon as he put on that uni he's FUCKED.
Sounds like a mad man.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
