Bell's Hopslam is being released in stores later this week. Tomorrow night at Karl's Cabin in Plymouth, they are holding a pre-release party from 7-11 p.m. Anyone else planning on attending? We have a group of 4-6 beer connoisseurs attending from the Munn group.
Nice. This wasn't on my radar. I gotta do my yearly routine where I hide a 6-pack in my basement and am ecstatic to find in the late spring.
Way to spill the trade secrets, broheim.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
Just picked up a 6 pack. First time I've ever tried it. Lives up to the hype.
The Doctor is in:
I need to get some! Wish it wasn't so damn expensive though!
Just told the local shop to make sure and get some. Its been too long!
Tis the season I stop at every liquor store I pass by to check the stock
Got mine last night. Didn't disappoint.
A man's gotta eat!
Stupid Illinois distributors making me wait an extra week
Just to get all snobby on you, hoppy beers are meant to be drank fresh. Now is the time to drink the 2013 Hopslam!
I saved one in my fridge for about 6 weeks last year... It definitely didn't have the same taste.
That puts me in a bind as I'm going on a two week vacation in two weeks. Guess I'll be drinking it very quickly!
Although true, I don't mind an aged Hopslam. It turns into a pretty nice barley wine. Honestly the hop flavor didn't fade as much as in other IPAs I have had with some age on them. The aroma did however, it was almost gone.
do the hops slam you?
We've got depth. We've got numbers.
Picked up a few bottles tonight for the first taste of the Hopslam season.
Delicious as always.
Will be getting much, much more of this as time goes by.
This is the freshest I've had it (been drinking copious amounts annually since 2008). Mine says it was bottled on 1/3. Six days old. Thank goodness, any older and it would have been a drain pour.
I've had it all the way into early June some years. It actually holds up decently. The hops lose luster for sure but the taste and buzz are still good.
Oh yes. If you finish a sixer you gone.
Oh, i'll drink plenty now. I just like to put a few away for later. It holds up quite well.
Anyone see it in Lansing area yet? I went to Oade's a couple days ago and they said they probably wouldn't have it for another week!
"I've got a refrigerator for you, Alexis...f#@* off."
Yeah, but I just drink it to look cool.
Village Market in the Chandler Crossing area had it earlier that most places last year.I haven't been by there recently but it is worth calling them.
Goodrich on trowbridge had a ton when I went Tuesday.
Holy shit I don't want to miss it this year. I blew it last year somehow. I will stop by the liquor store first thing tomorrow.

Karl's was jammed last night - they had a band that started at 7:00 and was pretty decent. The Hopslam on tap was very, very good. Have to be a bit careful with the 10% alcohol content but it's another solid batch.
Vine & Brew on Jolly Rd in Okemos has about 4 cases already. They have the best prices in town on it. Got mine there yesterday that was bottled on 1/3!!
Also, both Reno's East & West has it on tap already
Just picked up to six packs at the Big Ten on Clippert they said they would be gone by the weekend
