McShay was blowing Bell on NFL Live just now. Good stuff.
In case you want Gholston's Page for future reference, I will link it below. If you were expecting him to be near the top of any of the categories you will be disappointed. 10-15 guys ahead of him on every part so far. Hopefully his speed is good for his size and that his size sells or he could be in for a longer wait than he thought. Bell apparently the only one to actually improve his stock with the combine.
The official source for NFL news, schedules, stats, scores and more.
Milliner is having shoulder surgery this offseason, and he's not known to be a "shutdown corner." Not worth a top 5 pick IMO. I also think that Jarvis Jones, Dion Jordan and those other "rush end DL/LBs" like Mingo etc, are not a good fit for the Lions' 4-3.
I think best case scenario, the lions trade down to like 10-13 and pick up an extra pick (since they have no 4th rounder) the guy I like in that range is Sam Montgomery.
They guy is a 6'3" 265lbs DE that just ran a 4.68 (unofficial) 40 time. And his 10 yard split time at 1.68 is among the fastest players at the position that are all 20-30 lbs lighter than him (Mingo's was a 1.63)
I like him better than Ansah
Montgomery has big time character flaws and the Lions should stay far away from that.
Thank god you are not a GM. You want to drop down from 5 to 10 for an extra fourth rounder? Vikings got 3 picks (4th, 5th, 7th) for dropping down one spot last year. Trading down is fine, but you better make it worthwhile.
The shoulder issue is a non factor. His shoulder will be better afterwards than it was originally. We will find out tomorrow during drills if he is an athlete worth the pick.
wasnt Montgomery one of the guys on Miles deadbeat list?

I don't agree. Guys just last year who I would love for the Lions to have are players like Janoris Jenkins, Burfict, Mike Adams, etc. Those guys all have "character flaws" but if you ignore talent because of those flaws, then you miss out on some great players.
I never said the Lions should trade down for 4th round pick.... I said they should pick up an extra pick since they are one pick short since they have no 4th rounder. Picking up a 2nd or 3rd round pick is far more valuable than picking up a 5th + 7th round pick. I'd be happy trading down since there really isn't a DL that blows me away in the top 5.
I like players like Mingo, Jordan, Ogletree, but not for the Lions defensive system and not at 5. You could pick up a valuable 3rd rounder by trading down and getting a DL lower in the first round like Montgomery who is very comparable to guys projected to go top 5 like Werner, Moore, and Ansah.
And then you end up with guys like Suh and titus young. It's a no win. The Lions are not an organization that can handle that type of player. too much disarray, too much confusion, very little leadership. Leadership is what guys who have yet to grow up need.
It varies player by player. I don't think leadership has much to do with it. What leadership on the Rams is keeping Jenkins out of trouble? Also, I don't see Suh as a negative for the team. They guy is still a beast and brings it on Sundays. Sure, he had the "stomp" but it's not like he's getting suspended or ejected week after week. (I think he had 2 penalties called on him this year and both were offsides).
Titus was obviously a big fuck up, but the guy turned out to be crazy. Thought he was the best receiver on the team....
Please tell me how Suh was a detriment to the team this year. I'll hang up and listen.
Montgomery has gotten absolutely shredded by his coaching staff at LSU and then personally admitted to taking entire GAMES off (not just plays, whole GAMES).
It is a lot early to declare Burflict and Jenkins a success. They havent been in the league long enough to show their stripes.

Or you take a guy with character flaws and he becomes the next Titus Young.
that's respectable but I was hoping to see 25-28ish.....man, one more season for him would have been huge. Same with SIms. Bell was right to come out and he's proving it: his skill set is rare as McShay noted: Size, great feet, underrated hands, extreme physicality, durability, and best of all a work ethic and heart that can't be beat. He should be a late 2nd-mid 3rd after his showing.
Will.....I'm on record, he made a mistake. NOT because he can't play in the league but because this draft is LOADED with Dlinemen.....it's jut crazy. I think he'll end up a 5th-6th rounder. (not the end of the world by the way...as I recall Kevin Vickerson was a 7th round pick by the Dolphins and he's had an OUTSTANDING career while making milliions. Jay Ratliff....Cowboys, DT was also a 7th rounder)
SIms....see Will. Most on here think 4th-5th but I see a 6th-7th with him. If you're as big as he is, you need to block better, and he doesn't. Avg. speed.....great hands....he's a TE that would've been coveted in the 70's and 80's...not so much now. ONe more year and he couldve been a solid 2nd-3rd rounder.
Honey Badger with 4 reps is effing PATHETIC. That just screams no work ethic. You can train 99% of any male more than 180lbs to bench 225 at least 5 times.
It basically just confirms that he will be a return specialist/special teams guy. Greatly decreases his value with kick offs being a non factor in the no fun league, he better run like Chris Johnson.
J5 with 16 reps is great/surprising.
Well, so far they are definite successes. You can prob expect them both to get arrested a few more times in their careers, but who cares really if they don't get suspended.
Sean Payton takes in the action, the Roushar hire is starting to make sense.
so mattyfresh and so clean
Guesses on J5's 40?
I'm going 4.48 unofficial.
I'm thinking that's a good guess. For the sake of how the combine has been going, I'll go sub 4.5
Some of my Spartan artwork and Keebdaddy!
Don't post poop!
Pretty solid 40 time for JA5, especially since he's bulked up to 185.
