"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Not great. He'll need to improve it a bit.
It has been average compared to the other TE's. Im guessing he wanted to get into the 4.6 range. He still has one more chance to get there.
I thought I read here that Sims had 4.4/4.5 speed and could run with Isiah Lewis. Fleener the tight end from Stanford last year ran a 4.45 so I would say this doesn't look good for Dion. Should've came back to state.
Sims 2nd run, 4.72.....he's consistent.
4.72 on second try for Sims, at least he was consistent.
Depends on where he's drafted. He was never going to be a 1st round pick. And he has a new daughter....
He's 9th slowest out of 10 so far. It sucks that he didn't run faster.
Damn, Dion. Let's see some good hands in the passing drills, and some good blocking in the blocking drills.
Thank you, Denicos.
From what I've read on the draft sites he was expected to run a 4.7...anything under that would have been a pleasant surprise. I criticized the kid for coming out too early (still stand by that BTW) but you can't expect a man his size to run a helluva lot better than that: Eifert and all the other guys running 4.5-4.6 are much smaller quite frankly. They are hybrid guys that can play TE OR WR....sort of like Hernandez of New England. Dion is a bigger tight end in the traditional mold. My problem with him coming out was he had work to do on his blocking, conditioning and durability: BIG time.
...to give you a comparison, the fastest OLINEMAN was Kyle Long (Howie Long's stud kid outta Oregon) and he ran a 4.94.....so no, 4.72 isn't great. It would be a C or C- I would think. Most ANY linebacker in the NFl and many Def. ENds can run and cover him at that rate, and that's what a TE is judged on.
I fully expect him to show the best hands of the group: they are WR hands. Blocking? Dunno....it isn't his strength quite honestly. It should be with his size and strength but he was NOT a dominating blocker at the point of attack at MSU..not by a long shot.
..........and here comes Manti 'catfish' T'eo....looks terrified taking the stage before the media. I normally like a good train wreck but expect you guys to report how he did on this one. Can't stand this fake clown and won't watch.

Told that Leon Sandcastle will show up at the combine tomorrow and talk to media at 5pm ET in Indy.

fixed: time change....has to be in ''primetime''
Coming out of high school Sims was allegedly 230 lbs and ran a 4.5. If he was 30 lbs lighting I could see that. Wonder if he could right in the low 4.6s if he was 250?
Coaches who can outline plays on a black board are a dime a dozen. The ones who win get inside their player and motivate.
Sims will be a bust those numbers suck...need moar better combine #'s.
Showing TE pass catching drills now:he's holding his own but just isn't as fluid or athletic as the top guys...Mayock just said he's "not a natural pass catching tight end" and puts eifert(ND), ertz(stanford), escobar(San Jose State), kelce(cinci) and Reed(Florida) in his top 5 and McDonald from Rice also looked good. Not looking good for Dion IMO.
Not to pile on, but this is exactly why most people went with the "best of luck to him, but he should really be coming back" line with Sims and Gholston. They really had a number of areas where they could have put out a lot of good film and really earned some money. Hope he does well but this doesn't sound promising too far
The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that. It's good knowin' he's out there. The Dude.
Sims basically ran where people expected him to. A sub 4.7 would have been great but most of the guys ahead of him aren't the typical blocking TEs, they're more like bulked up WRs.
He showed some good athleticism though, a 35" vertical for a guy his size is pretty damn good.
And by the way, Sims had the 3rd best 10 yard split of all the TEs.

Good luck Dion
For the love of Trevor...™
Bell with 24 reps on the bench press. Pretty solid. Some RB from Wake Forest (6'1 246) with a staggering 36.
Bell with 2 more reps than Sims? Is that right?
laconophilia is everywhere...
Yup. But remember bench press favors people will smaller arms. I don't think they measure RBs arm length but generally speaking, Bell should have shorter arms at 6'1 vs. Sims at 6'5.
