recruiting classes are ranked, of course, by how many stars and ave. per star.
so, we're around the low 30's.
michigan, 4 or 5.
but they don't WEIGHT the value of the single most important position: QUARTERBACK
i really believe the trend in college and now the pro's (capernick, russel wilson, RG3, cam newton) let alone the TON of colleges running a dual threat QB is the way to go. especially in the BIG10 where you have ALOT of very good defenses. braxton miller, cain colter, taylor martinez, marquis gray; heck, even devin gardner was pretty good.
that being said: who would you take ? damion terry or shane morris ?
i'm preaching to the choir, but i'd hitch my wagon to damion terry.
i'm not ready to annoint the kid as a "savior"; but i'm pretty damn excited to have him (and delton williams) coming to MSU. without those two, i'd be looking for a bridge or a ledge to go walk off.............
now, for comparison sake ONLY, michigan, OSU, and ND "cleaned our clocks" in the O-line and running back "categories". that is where i trust in dantonio and mannie to "level the playing field".
i believe terry's coach said with the year he had, (maybe coach speak), he'd have 20 or 30 offers with the INCREDIBLE year he had.
(i'm NOT, in any way, referencing the 3 QB's already on the roster)
i'm only saying that i'm ECSTATIC our coaches identified and were able to lock up terry as soon as they did.
6'4, 218. and a WINNER. that is why i think we really have a "TOP 20" recruiting class.
Are you ready for some football?

I think that if you'd become "ballen fan116935", MSU fans would be very happy with the 2014 class
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Mods - please pin this to the top so Tanfan won't miss it.
Same here. I want him to be a part of the competition this spring. If they renege and Maxwell is given the job, we're looking at 7-5 and the same crap minus Bell.

Unless he's enrolled right now, he won't be competing for anything this spring.
(Probably just a typo on your part)
OSU and ND are in excellent shape at QB for the systems they run. So are we. UM should go hard after a top 5 QB for 2014, because Morris is not going to take that program anywhere.
My thoughts are you may be overhyping one player.
I agree Morris is overrated!!!!!!!! (crowd) OVER RATED
I think Terry is a great QB prospect and am excited to have him, but I think it's a pretty big misconception that he is any more "dual threat" than Cook or O'Connor.
What positions is Delton Williams going to play when he gets to MSU?

Most likely safety, but he could do offense. Think Demetrious Cox.
Your logic is sound in that a badass qb is a game changer. That is assuming Terry is a game changer, and that he has a chance to develop correctly. The other side is that no one is ultimately successful without good line play. Our future success depends on player development along the lines. I am a blower, but I have faith in our coaches. ftr I think that skill position players are a dime a dozen, so I dont put too much stock in rb,wr, or db.

He'll get a look at RB at camp if not there probably Linebacker looking like he is going to get bigger and out grow the position of Safety which is what MSU was originally looking at him as.
If Coached By Duffy reads this thread he'll tell you for sure what MSU looks at him as in college.

And Maxwell was an elite 11 four-star who was an all-state high jumper - IN HIGH SCHOOL.
And Keith Nichol was a top notch QB in HIGH SCHOOL.
And who is this Kirk Cousins? He was pretty decent, but didn't get those BCS offers while he was in HIGH SCHOOL.
Seeing a trend?
While I like the enthusiasm, and there is no denying Terry has upside, but let's just see how he performs in COLLEGE before we anoint him savior.
The original post actually said that he's not ready to anoint him the savior. He's just very excited about him.
15-0. state champions.
3,600 passing yards; 50 TD's, only 7 ints.
700 yards rushing; 12 TD's
oh, and he's not 6' 180. he's 6'4, 220
i don't look @ it as "overhyping" per se; the kid DELIVERED.
This is where you lost me. Hate to be this guy because I think we landed some very nice pieces but as somebody said skill players are often a dime a dozen. The class I will be most excited about is the year we land 5 offensive lineman with a couple of those being studs. Could very well be 2014.
With that said I'm very excited about the dynamic terry could bring.
thank you. that was my intent of the post.
as far as line play; 2011 jacko and donovan clark; 2012 zack higgins, benny mcgowan and
conklin; 2013 dennis finley (just bumped to a 90). and don't forget some succes in converting defensive lineman to O-line. it's been talked about ad nauseam about the injuries to the O-line in previous years; YES, we are THIN in numbers there, no question about it. i personally think a deep 2014 class is imperitave.

With Staten our OL are underperforming. The fact we don't seem to be making any changes with offensive coaches is concerning.
I like Terry and think he could be very good. That said, let's not crown him just yet.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
This username has promise. Lol.
One guy? Going to take more than that lol. I get the enthusiasm though. If I could steal one guy from MSU's class and have him in M's it would be him or Reshke.
Can't wait to see what kind of amazing stuff Roushar will do with a dual threat QB! The play he drew up against Iowa was pure genius!
No one cares. Go away.
