No one is bashing this guy. Is it OK, to color some of us skeptical? I think it's a great story and wish him all the luck and love the he likes MSU. I just think the likelihood of him being an impact player is very slim. Football is not power lifting and it's not a race. Otherwise all the guys in the Strongman competitions & all the Olympic sprinters would be in the NFL. The guys he will be going against are elite athletes and have been playing football for years and years. I think many of you don't realize the skill level of D-1 lineman, they aren't just big, strong guys leaning on each other.

DL and fullback!
The moment is eternal
Instead, I will color you counterproductive.
I don't even know what tha't supposed to mean. Who's being productive on a messageboard?
With those measurables,If he was an unpolished Senior in HS who just started playing the game he would be an extremely coveted recruit. We have 5 years to make him a player. yes please!
just make him take 5 drug tests. Dont need another Tony on the team.
Why isnt he playing Aussie football? That stuff is crazy , you can punt a ball thru the goal posts for a field goal and there is even a EA sports video game of it.
Well an unpolished Sr in High School is still growing and developing, we can probably safely assume he's fully matured. Remember the Clay Matthews photos? Good luck to him though, could be a great story in a few years.
Big man on campus coming thru!!!
Here is Gawain December 2011. Much better form then previous video.
That looks like Troy High Schools field.
Uhhhh. I think you're right.
Well, that's interesting.
My Whiskey Blog
This seems like a made for Hollywood story.
Aussie weightlifter has a dream of playing American football, gets running coach, sends out some film and walks on as giant Rudy.
I hope it works. And to those who say technique trumps size, if a guy can get low, and he's a giant, you're not moving him.
I don't know why people are complaining about this. If the MSU staff thinks he can play, then that's it, end of story. Trust in Dantonio.

Maybe he's wirey?
fuzzywuzzy, Here is a useful question. Does your mate have any rugby or wrestling backround?
It is. One of my friends is now an assistant coach there and said he saw him in the weight room when I brought up this story. Not exactly sure why he is there but my guess is he is just training in Michigan and happens to be in that area. If anything, it only makes it seem more like he's coming to MSU (assuming he gets cleared by the NCAA).

I would just like to take this opportunity to say how much I like Australia and Aussies. I would be happy as a jumbuck in a billabong to have one on the team.

In the Disney movie they will have him playing for um, rather than MSU.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Well, I guess that's that.
I am humored by his running style/arm movement.
It will be pretty interesting to see what Gill and Mannie will do w him.
Probably will set some pretty high numbers for player weight training records.
Nothing to lose here and much to gain if our coaches can mold him into a player.
I would like to see him run through a brick wall at about 20 yards after he gets a full head of steam.
I'd think that could be a likely scenario, since I saw him at a bar in Royal Oak. He's friends with a former EMU punter, like the Det News article said, so he probably lives in the area.
a 30 inch vertical and he weighs almost 400 pounds? you know how much power you need to get 400 pounds two and a half feet off the ground? and we're not talking about this "slow" power, you need explosive power. if he gets on the right table plan and really works at it, he could lose 50 pounds and play at 350. as i said before, here's our 3-4 NT.

Great avatar of Seth man.
I'd love to get him in and have him do some drills with Anthony Rashad White who is a former power lifter and is a bit older than your average college player too I believe.
There are a few big ? marks for me with this Aussie but plenty of potential as well.
