I agree with Clark Kellog, who basically says that teams shouldn't necessarily get punished in the polls for losing to quality opponents on the road. That seems to have been the way that this weeks polls settled. However, if that is the collective thinking then why does Syracuse linger in the top the way they do? I get the Duke phenomenon, but Syracuse??? They've lost all of their games in the last month and play in crappy conference? I don't think MSU is disrespected per se, but you'd think going 15-2 since Jan. 1 in far and away the best conference would yield a top 5 ranking anyway.
Win tomorrow and have a 2-game B1G lead over the weasels.

Beat scUM, make top five.
I don't think Gonzaga is better than MSU. They play San Francisco. Uhh, like the 49ers?
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Does it also predict MSU getting blown out in the round of 64 by Lehigh? Because that wouldn't surprise me all too much.
MSU #1. Demand excellence.
WTF, MSU stayed the same in the coach's poll. #8 again this week......
Gonzaga moves up 3 after beating Loyola and Pepperdine both at home. We stay still after beating top 25 Minny and getting a road win against a top 100. Wow...

Gonzaga has no reason being that high. They've beat..what 1 ranked team all year? And they barely won that game. And they lost to Illinois pretty badly at home. Most Big Ten teams would be undefeated with that schedule.
Don't look now but the boys in Green are " movin on up"!
The moment is eternal
We should all be used to not getting the proper respect we deserve. This team will just have an added chip on their shoulders and that is fine with me. The number in front of a school is meaningless right now. I will pay more attention in about five weeks what number we have.

“They hate us, and we hate them,” he said. “Or they might dislike us, but we hate them.”
Tough love is in effect here|We won't accept you as you are|Instead, we will show you a vision of what you could be and help you achieve it
KenPom needs a new formula, especially if he says we are going to lose to UM twice, and IU and OSU, yet still finish with a 13-5 record.
Pitt above Duke, Syracuse, Miami, Gonzaga, and MSU?
I hate this guy.
Can we, as a board, treat him like we treat finalfouru?
Florida.. I mean, his poll rewards margin of victory (apparently), so if he wants to reward a team for playing LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and South Carolina then good for him. Should be better for my bracket when Florida is gagging in the Elite 8 like they have the past two seasons.
There's really no reason for Wisconsin or Minnesota to be ranked ahead of MSU. Wisconsin and MSU have pretty much identical margin of victories in conference against specific teams and MSU has three less losses overall and a better non-conference win than Wisconsin can boast. If MSU beats Michigan tomorrow, MSU should go ahead of Wisconsin, but knowing KenPom it's no guarantee.
It's a formula, it's not his opinion. He's said multiple times that there are flaws and that's why Wiscy is ranked so high every year.
Depending on the seeding and all that stuff I can easily see UF getting bounced in the SS.
The Miami team that beat us in Coral Gables played a tired MSU team. The Spartans were playing their fifth game in just eleven days including trips to Atlanta and Miami after returning from Germany. Gary Harris was just returning from a separated shoulder. Miami shot 56% on threes and 89% from the free throw line and yet still had to come from behind in the second half to win. Odds of that kind of hot shooting happening again are very, very slim. MSU destroyed Miami on the glass, 40%-16% offensive rebounds, which is more likely to repeat itself. Miami was dismantled by 19 points on a neutral site by Arizona, who also destroyed the 'Canes on the glass, while Miami was cold on threes and at the free throw line on that day. I was and still am very impressed by the Hurricanes and Coach Larranaga, but not so much as to think they would necessarily take MSU more than half the time on a neutral court, right now. I like our chances against anyone in the NCAA, right now. That includes Michigan and Indiana and anyone else that wants some.

It's pretty evident that a lot of pollsters don't watch the games, they just look at the name, record, and conference and throw it up there.
One correction....Gary Harris played. Although it was his first game back from injury.
What influence does Ken Pom have in the big scheme of things?
I've never heard of someone getting so much love for a formula that is so obviously incorrect.
KenPom to ESPN:
"Listen, I know my formula is flawed. It has weird teams way too high. But hey, it's a formula!"
ESPN: Good enough for us!
Zags play a pretty tough schedule outside of the conference schedule. We'll learn much about them on Thursday night when they travel to St Marys. Gonzaga beat St Marys by 3 (I think) at home. But now they'll be traveling. I'm thinking St Mary's pops the Zags bubble and they drop back to the 11 or 12 spot - about where I think they belong...
Spartans ...committed to bring Paul Bunyan home in 2013.
