Walton is a four star kid. A lot of people thought he might be headed to MSU, but UofM offered early and he jumped on it like a month later. Kind of a surprise.
Yup. Walton wanted an MSU offer badly. At the time, MSU was evaluating both him and Demetrious Jackson. Walton decided not to wait. I've read he had a very good summer.
Didn't Walton's dad come out and say that Izzo had backed off when Walton committed to Michigan?
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
I was checking out the CBS RPI rankings and noted something interesting. On the Michigan page there is a tab to "Listen to 97.1 The Ticket" which is missing from the MSU page (no radio station is linked).
Duke has "Listen to the Franchise," nothing for the U, the Lobos (the highest RPI team they've played is 15, but they are 3rd...), Gators, KU, Zona, Cuse, and Ville.
Should I sound the alarm?
I rather listen to cats fucking than any show on that God awful commercial-ridden station....
No. Bobby Sak will do that...
It is just [more] proof as to how the station markets.
I'm listening to V&F for the first time in forever to check out some Walvie excuses. First call I hear is a downriver walvie who says he hates his wife's guts, but they still have sex without kissing.
The Walton kid is supposed to be a pretty good pure pg. If a kid commits to scuM in hoops, there is probably zero chance Izzo continues to recruit him.
If the Waltons thought that would ratchet up MSU interest then they were wrong.
As for Zak Irvin the kid is supposed to be a pretty good athlete- again another one that should be in a Purdue uniform (GRob3, McGary). Purdue went for the big guns and lost in Dawson and Harris, but then let these other guys get away from them which would have been more important.
Back on topic, have not listened to the Fan or XYT in years, but I assume they are the same trashy scuM outfits that they always were.
Actually stopped listening to the show. Hate the call in format. Sometimes it's OK when they talk college football, but I might have tuned it in 4/5 times in the past 5 years. The reason I knocked it dead is that the format is soooooo predictable. As with all Detroit media, it's always from the UM perspective. It's not how good the Spartans are, it's how bad did UM play and what can they do to fix it. I'm sure today's show was no different and I bet no Spartans called in. Only downriver trailer trash.
Ann Arbor is essentially a suburb of Detroit. What do you expect?
I think they do it that way to generate interest and calls.. if it was all about how good MSU is, no one would call in.. 90% of the people that call in are UM "fans"
and at least 50% of their potential audience are Spartans. Quit being caller driven. Nobody cares about the 90% walmarters that are unemployed and have nothing better to do than wait to call in. The IQ of these callers combined don't compare to a mentally challenged rock, yet they have all the answers. How these guys aren't head coaches, AD's or GM's is mindboggling. It's a shame that so much talent is wasted in trailer parks everywhere.

I have began disliking 97.1's show after they began discussing nothing but politics and the constitution. Not just because they are opinionated assholes, but because they refuse to talk about sports.
The people (hosts and callers alike) involved with 97.1 SPORTS TALK is not the crowd I want to hear about politics or economics from. Nothing makes me flip the switch faster. Most of the callers don't know their heads from their behinds so why would I want to listen to them ramble about elections and policies?
I don't think MSU was ever gonna offer Walton regardless. The team has three point guards right now between Appling, Trice and Valentine and Izzo is going after Tyus Jones in the class of 2014.
