Gonna hurt not having him in there.
Such B.S. I've lost all respect for Brendan Shanahan.
Get off my lawn.
Shanny is a POS.
A BS call and suspension. Okay, I understand if the idiot refs screwed up, but then Shanny reviews it and STILL gets it wrong? WTF?
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
It's hockey, not figure skating. What's the sporting world coming to?
My seats at SS. My driveway in winter.
You guys actually think it is Shanahan handing down these inconsistent suspensions? You know it is coming from above him...
35,600 posts and counting since 09-09-2002. tRCMB Dead Pool Commissioner.
Abdelkader got hit with a cheap shot the game before and they ignored it.
What did the guy who kicked Howard in the head get? What did the guy who broke Dekeyser's hand get?
If Abs would've used the boards instead it would have been fine
In the closing minute of the first round match up of the 2012 stanley cup playoffs, Shea Weber smashes henrik zetterberg's face into the wall.
That was a much dirtier play and probably more deserving of a suspension. Straight cross check to the back
You guys can't be serious, can you? Skating 40 feet, leaving your feet, and making shoulder contact to the head is going to be a suspension every time from now until eternity.
I don't know the rule so maybe someone can link to it but that was a vicious hit. Although it was a shoulder to shoulder hit, leaving your feet that way is seriously fucked up and intent to injure. Abdelkader had been playing much better this season but he just fucked over his own team with a bad decision.
Delusional dicks. That was a very dangerous and stupid hit by Abdelkader. Deserved what he got yesterday and the 2 game suspension.
Posting member of tRCMB since 1997.
It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
I went and watched the hit on YouTube expecting to see at the very least an ambiguous play. I love this place.
I am gravely disappointed. Again you have made me unleash my dogs of war.
Since light travels faster than sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak.
He left his feet. Period.
Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub
Yeah that was shades of McSorley/Brashear wasn't it.....
Location: Mumbai, India
He coasted after just a few strides.
he left his feet after the contact...that's not a penalty and it's certainly not a suspension. A 2 minute charging penalty would have been understandable. Since the guy got hurt, it's 5 mins and 2.5 games out for Abs. The primary target point was the shoulder and his arms were down, he was coasting on the ice at original contact, and he only came in the air after contact, that's not a suspendable offense. The picture shows his feet on the ice and primary contact made at the shoulder

Yeah, you guys who are saying he left his feet only saw the view from behind which really does look like his feet are off the ice before impact. Check the other angle and pause at impact. His skates were on the ice.

Perfect example of why hockey is so irrelevant.
Was it a hard hit - yes.
Does it warrant suspension of two play off games? - no.
The inconsistency is insane, and trying to rid a violent sport of violence is insane.
Enjoy the race to the bottom NHL.
Doesn't kronwall leave his feet almost every hit?
I can see that as a 2 minute charging penalty, but he was in the middle of the ice. If the guy had his head up he would have saw him coming, he wasn't hit from behind. Stop staring at the puck and he could have avoided the hit
Abdelkader gets cross checked into the boards from behind and no call? That was a much more dangerous hit than what abdelkader did.
That link I posted, abs is hitting the dude feet on the ice, left his feet in the forward momentum, the fact that he got a game should have been enough, but bettman
I remember when Pronger cross-checked Holmstrom's head into the boards and got one game.
