Good read about a sad situation and the culture of sweeping things under the rug in South Bend (and a lot of other schools).
Only two people know what happened Aug. 31, 2010, in an Irish player's room. One will be on the field Monday night. The other killed herself 10 days after an alleged sexual assault. Gregg Doyel mulls an awkward tragedy.
SO infuriating......they are SUCH hypocrites it's not even funny. My dollar store domer bro in law boasted about 2 yrs ago how clean their program is: "Think about it man, State has had problems off the field for YEARS....just bad guys: Plax, Rison, Ingram, Boo Boo Thompson, Ezor, the list goes on and on."........fucking clown.
SInce then Clausen got punched out in a bar, Floyd has had 2 DUI's, Reis and the psycho LB'er ran from cops and threatened them, kid died in the scissor lift and oh BTW THIS. Doyel is good and he has BALLS. It isn't easy taking on ND...he better gird his loins because a shit storm is coming his way.
BTW: I hope Bama beats them by 30.....probly won't happen but I'll laugh my ass off if it does.

It's tragic but old news. Between this and the kid falling off the scissor lift I'm shocked Kelly kept his job.
Kept his job? The guy is about to get promoted...
Going 12-0 covers a multitude of sins. It's somewhere in the fucking bible.
If Kelly wasn't winning he would have lost his job and been thrown to the wolves by ND.
Posting member of tRCMB since 1997.
It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
I think the point of the article was that it's not really old news when this guy gets to experience the greatest night of his life Monday and meanwhile nobody has been held responsible for her death.
This is why I am no longer a "practicing" Catholic.
(not really, but kinda)
Since the article states they don't know the players name I'm not sure you can guarantee that he's playing Monday.
FWIW, the player who was accused is [redacted]. His friends texted the now deceased accuser that "Don't mess with ND football. Bad things can happen".
Also, AFTER that incident, ND students claim that a different ND player raped a different coed, but even while on the way to the hospital, she said she would not talk to police because she saw how the other girl was ostracized before she took her own life.

The name is out there if you Google it. He's a starter.
Please don't post the name. We don't allow people to post the names of our players who have been cleared of similar allegations, I see no reason to allow it in this case.
what should we try to Google? I just tried a couple different things and came up empty

Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS UGLY......look at this article I found from November of this year guys:
turns out her family had ELEVEN alums at ND and requested an interview with the Prez of ND (Jenkins) and were turned down.....Doyel should have mentioned this in his article, specifically the part where KELLY is handling discipline for players now, now the university: that's like the good old days with Switzer, Schembechler, Woody, etc....good luck with that ND.....this isn't over by a long shot IMO:d:
I found one more(current) article on this I have to post...it's by an alum and she's pissed and persuasive: like I said, this isn't over, it's just starting.
I didn't say he would be playing, but FWIW he will be. His name is no longer a secret. The author of the article just chose not to use it.
I remember the story when it happened. I still can't believe the campus did nothing.
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
What exactly was Brian Kelly supposed to do.
The facts of the case are not in dispute.
A ND player met Lizzy and went to a room. They started messing around. The player touched her breast and she said stop. He stopped and walked out the room.
Her own statements (she gave two that conflicted with each other) to police say that when she asked him to stop he stopped. His statement to police say that when she asked him to stop he stopped. Seeberg's own friends statement to police backed up his version of the story that he stopped.
Given these facts I'm not sure what Kelly was supposed to do?
Like it or not the player has rights too and in the absence of any evidence of wrongdoing on his part ND couldn't punishment him, possibly irreparably, if there isn't any evidence that he did anything wrong.
That's the Domer version of the facts (ie, complete BS, because you can't justify what is actually agreed upon). The victim, the player and another couple went to the room. The other couple left, at which time the player started fondling and kissing her breasts as she cried and asked him to stop. He didn't.
Here is what Domers cling to, to keep this guy on the field:
"The school’s “proof” that Lizzy lied is that she said the player stopped attacking her after receiving a call or a text. Phone records contradict that, showing that it was the player who called a friend rather than the other way around. Case closed, right? Sure, if you don’t think someone in the middle of both a physical and an anxiety attack could possibly be mistaken about whether her assailant stopped to make a call, or take one..."
And if you think the Washington Post article is damning, you should read the same author in the National Catholic Reporter.
And, if you, like many Domers on the Rivals board have said "He just grabbed some tit...", consider that ANOTHER player is implicated in rape after this event. Documented by an ND R.A. and her parents (whose home they went to after taking her to the hospital):
"A few months later, a resident assistant in a Notre Dame dorm drove a freshman to the hospital for a rape exam after receiving an S.O.S. call. “She said she’d been raped by a member of the football team at a party off campus,” the R.A. told me. I also spoke to the R.A.’s parents, who met the young woman that same night, when their daughter brought her to their home after leaving the hospital. They said they saw — and reported to athletic officials — a hailstorm of texts from other players, warning the young woman not to report what had happened: “They were trying to silence this girl,” the R.A.’s father told me. And did; no criminal complaint was ever filed..."
This story which has been glossed over for far too long will get some attention this weekend. It's a shame the media sits on stuff in hopes that it will have more "impact" later.
I hope Saban kills them Monday night
It's interesting how quickly people forget the allegation of sexual assault that happened to our basketball team.
Players play, tough players win.
Nobody has forgotten. However, we don't pretend our university hasn't had its share of incidents. Dollar Store Domers have perfected the art of bashing other schools' "thugs" while completely ignoring ND's issues such as those posted in this thread.
Also, MSU never got a student killed.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
