The Penn State fiasco sheds light on big athletic programs. Always be aware, be very aware.
That was the link that I found it as well. I think they were more angry that a white girl would have any sort of sex with a black dude.
Yes, there was a lot of discussion of the girl not leaving the room when she felt uncomfortable because she was afraid of being branded a racist. Even though I don't give any credence to the opinions espoused there, it's interesting to read opinions from different political philosophies.
I think Notre Dame has lost a good deal of its fanbase over the past decade+. I don't really think the lack of championships had much do with it. Stuff like this rape swept under the rug, the 2009 Obama commencement, the Declan Sullivan death, and the fact that probably few players on the team are even Catholic are a few of the reasons. ND has sold itself down the river and caved in to society to be relevant. My parents and grandparents were big Notre Dame fans up until around ten or fifteen years ago. Now they hate Notre Dame and will root against them. Notre Dame used to get blue-collar kids from steel towns who weren't always the best talent, but played their asses off and were as tough as nails. Now, they go after the flashy thug recruits and Mormons like Te'o, Schwenke, and Badger.
When the Four Horsemen played, there was alot of anti-Catholic sentiment in the United States. The KKK was huge in Indiana in the 1920's (30% of Indiana's white males in 1925). Notre Dame was proud of who it was and didn't cave in to the outside, but fast forward to present day and the University is all about football and no values. One interesting note is that one of the Four Horseman, Jim Crowley, became Michigan State's head football coach from 1928-1932. Crowley learned football from Curly Lambeau, his coach at Green Bay East HS. Curly Lambeau played college football at Notre Dame and founded the Green Bay Packers.
HARDCORE SPARTAN FAN
Assaulter? That's nothing. They will have a murderer on the sideline.
I agree. That said, beware the wrath of the over sensitive rods. You gone.
Posting member of tRCMB since 1997.
It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
In fairness, she killed herself. MSU is somehow better in this scenario because the female involved had more mental stability or whatever you want to call it post incident than the ND girl?
Those in glass houses...
I hope MSU clownslaps those SOB's by 60+ points on 9-21-2013
"Those fans are in for a world of hurt...they've never gone up against a premium message board fan base like ours."-Vim
A catholic institution covering up sexual assault?
That's about 50 points more than were likely able to score
ND completely fucked up their investigation. It was a complete joke. Then there's the players that were texting the girl messages like "don't mess with ND football."
I'm also speaking more generally. ND fans are CONSTANTLY talking about how their program is so much better than everyone else's because their players are such upstanding citizens. They have no qualms whatsoever to call out players from other schools. Dollar Store Domers (along with Walmart Wolverines) are the biggest hypocrites in college sports.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
The problem with this case lies deeper than the facts concerning what transpired. Those are very debatable in large part because the ND Clown Show Police Department sat on their asses for so long before "investigating."
The alum that wrote the awesome article is of course Melinda Henneberger: here is a chat she had on the topic: VERY sharp lady who is demanding some accountability in this friggin mess. AS I said earlier in the thread, this isn't over and it will haunt Kelly's fat ass no matter what happens in Natty Championship. He is a serious POS.....read on:
I thought this exchange was very telling:
Do you feel the school's religious affiliation is a detriment? Has your personal religious view changed because of the events that took place?
............. Two interesting questions, and not sure I know the answer to the first, though that it's a sexual matter and not, say, a matter of scissor-lift safety, certainly adds another layer of complexity in the response. It has not altered my religious faith in any way, no; just my faith in the institution I had felt most in sync.
Certainly appears that alums with a CONSCIENCE haven't forgot about Sullivan and the scissor lift incident either. Oh the tangled web that Kelly is weaving.....

oh look, the lil irish man finally crawled out of a hole to google what the bad people of the world were saying about Nd
Maybe the University you root for should actually hold its criminals accountable for their actions instead of sweeping it all under the rug. Then we wouldn't talk about the situations all the time dumb fuck.
Maybe the school you root for shouldn't act so morally superior and talk about their purity compared to the rest of College football. At best ND is no better than any other school and in some cases they're probably worse than quite a few.

Right...we don't give a shit? We all felt bad about the guy who got killed on that lift. Your idiot coach made a horrible decision and then sat there and lied that he didn't know about a high wind warning. Everyone in the Mid-west knew about it how didn't he know?
Your police department, if you want to call that, barely even investigated it. There was enough smoke in texts to lead a blind squirrel to realize there might be fire to go with it.
There really is little to debate as far as manslaughter Kelly goes. Only school in the Midwest that put a kid in the danger Kelly put Declan Sullivan in that day. ND has done everything possible to sweep in under the rug. Kelly should held criminally accountable.
