I suspect most of the world sees it as I do. Not here, but most everywhere else. I love MSU as much as anyone here, but I'm not gonna lie or kid myself about this.
The only people bringing this "was it a punch or not" shit up is message board posters. That should tell everyone something.
Your a retard.
As much as I hate admitting one of our Spartans is guilty...Carroll grimaced, stumbled backward several steps befor righting himself, and his entire body collapsed inward with the force of the blow. I say make a public announcement of sitting him for first half of next game and move on before this thing gets out of hand.
What video were you watching?
I say we let Izzo and Hollis deal with it. It's been said that they have other angles and I trust them completely. So no offense but we need to stop acting like little bitches about it and throw out what you perceive as what happened and hand out what you think is just and just let Izzo deal with it.
Jesus guys we have Tom Fucking Izzo as our coach stop being little weasels and understand he'll take care of it.

I guess you know better than Matt Larson.
The fact that the only people talking about this are on message boards should tell you something. Not a peep from a player, ref, coach, athletic director, etc. He didn't throw a punch or even attempt to, and hopefully when the Big Ten sees the video they agree
I'd love to read your description of the hit on Warwick a few years ago.
JFC, not even the kid he's accused of punching nor his coach has said anything.
Interpretation (and you're entitled to it, certainly). But, that's not what I see when I look at that. He was already in a backwards motion even before the "wind up." I don't see him grimacing from a landing blow, nor do I see him in the amount of pain that would absolutely cause; I see him pandering (only slightly mind you and that should tell you something) to the refs for a call from a not so furtive movement of Dawson's that could possibly be misconstrued (and is being) as a "punch."
If you get socked square in the gut by someone with Dawson's strength and the energy behind that movement that is clearly displayed, you don't just flinch and look at the ref, you double over and struggle to breathe as your solar plexus goes into full on melt down mode. Even a hardened trained fighter such as The Iceman, high on Angel Dust, would have at least grimaced and been temporarily incapacitated (and probably once recovered would have taken an unmistakably self defensive stance), not just flinching and looking at the ref for a call like "he almost hit me!"
That was my point. .

"When Nehemiah Warrick hit Kyle Jefferson, the force of the collision was so terrible that Jefferson splintered into several visible pieces, and the shock wave left permanent damage to everyone in the stadium. I hate to lay blame on a Spartan, but the video angle is clear on this."
Maybe he tried (I don't think he did), but the video makes it pretty obvious that he didn't connect
get the new Nike MSU font: http://tinyurl.com/spartansfont
So if you're standing next to a guy and he brings his fist up in a motion that looks like a punch, the only way you react is if he makes contact? And if he does hit you, your reaction is like he just nailed you with a squirt gun?
Yeah, really you need the footage from the "other" angles that is said to exist (and not coincidently, exonerate Dawson) to have anything even approaching definitive proof that a punch was intentionally thrown, whether it landed or not. In absence of that, I can't really expect anything to come from his other than continued butthurt from the herp and derp Boilers and sniveling Walverines with an agenda just wishing ill will no matter the actual facts of the situation.
If the situation were entirely reversed and it were our guy that might have gotten punched, I'd want to hear what our player and Izzo had to say about it first and foremost. I'd want the league to look at it if they claimed it went down of course (and I'd be inclined to believe then it did happen to SOME small degree based on the quite inconclusive footage, if they were adamant in claiming it did), but in absence of that, I'd just feel like a whiney butthurt fan who's looking for a moral victory to deaden the pain of complete ownage.
Indeed. Good point. Flinching and grimacing are not synonymous and many (if not most) people have a hard time distinguishing between the two, especially on poor quality video media.
I honestly can't believe that board is full of real human beings. holy shit the delusion makes MgoBlog look like the most unbiased analytical site on the web. wtf is all this shit?
Dawson just contiues the recent trend of low character punks at MSU
Didn't like him then, don't like him now. Wouldn't have made it one semester at Purdue. He definitely picked the right program b/c "wholesome" Tom Izzo's looking the other way, per usual...just like when Dawson "didn't" talk shit to Painter last year. Appling and Payne didn't see the "alleged" punch as they were too busy sexually assaulting a young co-ed....ALLEGEDLY. Add them to Lucious and Allen and there's an undeniable trend of Izzo collecting trash...as long as they can dunk or shoot a jumper.
The truth stings for Sparty and their once proud program. They won on the court...on the scoreboard... but Purdue fans never have anything to be ashamed of like 1/4 of MSU's punk b*tch roster.
Now I guess we see what Jabari Parker meant when saying Dawson was one of reasons not going to MSU.
And I could be wrong, but my guess is Carroll will never say. Expect Purdue to take the high road. Not that there's anything wrong with simply stating facts, but I'm guessing it'll die and nothing will come of it.
Sparty's got experience with this stuff. They kept Cleaves, Randolph, Appling, and Payne from ever getting into any legal trouble. Hell, they'll put the interns on this piddly little one! LOL!!
Too bad they aren't held accountable. Painter will take the high road and tell the team it was their own fault for any number of reasons. I wish the officials weren't afraid to overrule each other. They have each others back instead evidently.
There are numerous references about how Purdue/Painter will and always do take the "high road" and everyone else are punks, thugs, corrupt, etc. I especially like how they seem to think Izzo is on par with Cal. Where the hell do they get this stuff? Has there been an epidemic of tainted meth down there or something?
what the fuck are you talking about? He doesn't even react other than to look at the ref and point at Dawson like a little bitch. Dawson clearly never touches him.
This is fucking INSANE.
13 pages? REALLY?
I saw the youtube video, something like 5 times. I keep looking for something. Yes, Dawson takes a swing. Yes, Carroll steps back. But there's nothing else.
If Dawson had connected, Carroll would have doubled-over.
Edit - now 14 pages...

I saw it on btn, it's a non-issue. Didn't even look like a punch. He looked excited. Purdue nancies trying to take the spotlight off their real problem, playing basketball.
I ventured over to the Purdue board. I can't believe all those bitter nerds are exposing themselves to slander against our team...specifically Izzo, Payne, Appling, and Dawson. It's very easy to trace a handle to an IP.

hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Poor chicken little. BH is desperately hoping MSU gets nailed for something. Keep those fingers crossed junior!
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
I bet she walked funny after every "tutoring" session.
I wish I could upvote the OP a few more times.
