Generally I'm not a huge NFL fan, watching for the commercials is just stupid, two uninteresting teams, Ray Lewis slurpfest, just not interested at all... My chick and I are gonna hit a nice restaurant and possibly the movies. No crowds!

There are 2 Spartans in that game, 1 of which might be playing in Celek because of his run blocking. Will be watching.
Neither of the teams are among your 15 favorite NFL teams?
There's a difference between boycotting and not watching because you're just not interested. Also, here's the mandatory "cool story, bro."
Not watching the Super Bowl is essentially the same as boycotting because eceryone in USA is expected to watch, I chose not to be a part of an over hyped corporate run sporting event that jumped the shark years ago. Cut out the 2 weeks of manufactured feel good stories, the commercials hype, the lame, "safe" 45 minute halftime show, endless commercial breaks and artificial stoppages in play and maybe I'll tune back in.
The Super Bowl is, at worst, an excuse to hang out with friends on a Sunday.
Normally I wouldn't care because I don't really follow the NFL, but a neighbor is a big Ravens fan and is having a huge party.
The Super Bowl is an event, not a game. Saying you aren't going to watch or go to any parties because of the participants is absurd.
Nope. Just you.
I don't see the fix. Could you bold the edited part next time? TIA
I am going to take a long hike on a short mountain with no water.
Will be watching, but mostly for the pageantry of the Super Bowl and not out of any interest in either team. I also really enjoy the commercials. If I'm late turning the game on, or miss parts of it while I'm taking a dump, it won't be the end of the world, but won't be boycotting.
Now with a PhD in Applied Llama Physics...
Typically the Super Bowl needs a big name QB in it to captivate me. Brees, Manning Rodgers or give me the Patriots so I can root against them.
Remember when the Baltimore Ravens used to be the Cleveland Browns? That was fun.
Fill the lower bowl with season ticket holders from each team, put the local high school bands as the halftime entertainment, drop the 45 min halftime, limit the ads, then I'll be back.
Yes, because everyone wants to tune in to see high school bands.
gHost passing up the chance to watch a big sporting event to do something else. Imagine that..
I just want to see Robinson and Celek get rings. Beyond that I don't really care.
I'm sure the NFL will appreciate the feedback.
I see your humor. Fine, be that way.
But the game itself is secondary to the event is what I am saying. If a friend of yours was having a SB party, with chicks and great food, would you not participate because of disinterest in the 2 teams? C'mon, man!
If you hate the teams I understand. But watch the game for the commercials then, because like it or not they generate a lot of buzz. Buy a ticket for the squares on each quarter and make it more interesting for yourself. Eat and get drunk if you are at a party. It is more than just the game itself.
You're making my point - the game has gotten to the point that its no longer interesting on its own.
I'll be watching because it is football
Football is buried somewhere in the thousands of hours and endless fluff pieces, pregame, commercials, etc... It's a football abortion. Real football isn't played in domes. Super Bowl should rotate from year to year in cold weather stadiums.
