Well Bacari Alexander is an illiterate hoodrat paid to say things like "for shizzle" and "who let the dogs out". Asking him to count timeouts or fouls is like asking your dog his thoughts on the eurozone crisis.
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Wow. If this had happened to an MSU coach, you would have been all over it.
Ernie and detroitbry had a private cry session together over some garbage bins and mops.
I miss detbry. I wish he would pop in for a minute, so we could all have a good laugh.
Absolutely embarrassing night for Beeline. Benching the POTY for almost the entire first half? Stupid. Clock management/substitutions down the stretch? Horrible.
He might've had a great tournament run but give me Izzo any day. He does not make stupid mistakes like that.
To be fair to Beilein, he did have Chris Webber keeping track of the fouls for him, so this was bound to happen.
I like how "B_____" can be understood as "Bitch" on the internets
Lol my exact first thought too
Ridiculous hypothetical. Izzo would not lose track of the foul situation in the closing moments of the title game.

In truth this is an assistant's job to keep the coach updated on. While beeline should have asked "are they in the bonus?", his assistants should have been accountable for and vocal about the foul situation - who and how many.
If anything, Bee Line is being a stand-up guy about it and taking the heat - as he should - and not throwing his idiot entourage under the bus. Fouls are so crucial at that point, and they are noted on the scoreboard for every player and coach and fan to see.
His bigger mistake was having Burke in on D with three timeouts and 40 seconds left. He should have been subbing offense/defense at that point and they wouldn't have been wasting 5-10 seconds with Burke (with 4 fouls) just looking at his guy. Not an impressive ending, but the foul to give wasn't that huge a mistake.
It was just a mistake;
I didn't mean to let them take away my soul.
Am I too old?
Is it too late?
Yep. That is the job of the assistants.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Even if he wasn't sure if they were in the bonus or not....why wait to foul as long as they did? I understand the Burke stuff but they wasted a good 15 seconds before someone finally got the foul in there. Stupid.
BeeLine also sat on his timeouts late.
I do agree with that criticism, and that one WAS fallout from lack of foul awareness. That delay was because they wanted to foul a poor free-throw shooter. Facepalms all the way around.
Right but the Burke stuff was part of the problem. If you know you're going to foul and that the other team will have free throws, why not take Burke and McGary out so that Louisville doesn't go right after Trey Burke and Mitch McGary knowing they both have 4 fouls? Beilein's coaching in the last 2-3 minutes was terrible.
Same here. I remember it happened with MSU against UW a couple seasons ago and it was almost like instant karma.
If you can do a half-assed job of anything, you're a one-eyed man in a kingdom of the blind.

Agree completely sir
Thank you, Denicos.
Shit happens to Head Coaches in championship games. Brady Hoke was all class showing up in the Bres for our Junior day.

anyone hear this discussed today? I had a busy one so didn't hear much radio - and i'm in KC so it's local or national here anyway - but I thought it was interesting that the Michigan coverage seemed to gloss over their gross failings at the end of the game and how poorly Burke was managed with the fouls. It was all about Spike become a star and whether McGary is now the best Center in College basketball and other such nonsense.
Did the fan or Huge or any of the other guys some of you listen to bring this up?
Wait...I thought you guys weren't watching the game!
...at least, nobody seemed to want to...
True. Additionally, Coach Bacari supposedly showed the team a picture of a Cardinal in a bird cage at halftime and they were given that magic formula of winning: two hydrogen and one oxygen.
I mean the stage was set for them to coast to victory.
