BeeLine is doing a good job. Burke/Hardaway/Robinson may be the kind of players to lead them out of the wildernesss!
Not sure if Evan Smoctryz would be labeled as a good player.
I'm sure there is thread on what Hoke had for lunch (if that is more to your liking)
It's all a part of the college football conspiracy against Sparty.
At this point last year Smotrycz was shooting .719 FT%/ .565 2PT% / .579 3PT%
Hardaway is .676/.500/.359
Stauskas is .897/.544/.605
If he was doing that for Michigan this year you guys would be lining up to tickle his nuts.
I think Smotrycz was decent. He would get into foul trouble way too easily and cost him minutes. That is what I saw as a big negative, but I will take Stauskas' shooting this year as Smotz fell off by the end of the year. Just my
No they don't
Outside McGary, they are play under 10min a game.. UM's 4 main players all play 30min a game.. that's not major minutes for bench players
To compare, only Appling plays over 30min for MSU and MSU has 9 guys play at least 12 minutes, Gauna plays 7min/game and no one would classify that as "major minutes"

McGary leads the big ten in "hilarious lack of athleticism."
Come on, it's gotta be andre almeida
michigan doesn't go deep in the bench during blow-outs, come the conference schedule they will be a 6-man-team.
starting anyone ahead of appling is not smart. how many clutch shots has anyone on michigan made to win games in the tournament?
Let's everyone chill the fuck out on sucking UM's dick. Remember, this is a program that won (thanks to MSU folding after Dawson's injury) their first share of the B10 title in forever last year. They haven't advanced to the Elite 8 or Final 4 in forever. They have little depth, and while they have great guards, their post play will be exposed in the B10.
They'll come back down to Earth once B10 play starts and MSU will make its usual improvements. People forget that players like Dawson, Trice, and Harris are still working their way back from injuries. And that Izzo is still tinkering with the rotation. MSU will start humming soon, and I like MSU's potential much more than UM's.
Well, if we know anything, it's that comparing this team to all of the less talented teams from years prior who were coached by different coaches is a good way to predict how this team will perform this year.
Also, Michigan won 6 of their last 7 regular season B10 games last year and OSU/MSU needed UM to lose to Purdue at home for a share of the title. I wouldn't say UM won "thanks to MSU folding."
Beilein did what Dantonio did: take 3-star guys and get them performing at a 4-star level.
Cousins, Bell, Martin, and Cunningham = Burke, Hardaway, Robinson, and Stauskas
I don't think Beilein really 'developed' Burke, Robinson or Stauskus. Those guys were/are performing at a very high level in some of the first games of their college careers.
It's not like Burke rode the bench for two years and gradually ascended to become the best PG in the Big Ten under Beilein's tutelage. Props to Beilein for identifying talent, but I don't buy that he 'coached these guys up' during the course of 1 month of practice. Just like I don't think Gary Harris is good because of Izzo's coaching.
OP, let's go ahead and rename this tOfficial 2012-13 Michigan Basketball Thread. Thanks.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Haha Brady hoke is fat
You sure do love strawman arguments don't you? Michigan has been coached by Beilein for a fair number of years. The program has yet to do ANYTHING of significance in the NCAA. But, keep on beating your chest about that #3 ranking in December; you'll enjoy watching us play in March while your team is ousted early once again.
Also, you are a blatant liar. UM lost to PU on February the 25th. MSU lost to OSU on March the 4th. That loss at home, after B. Dawson went down with the knee injury, gave both OSU and UM a share of the title. They most certainly got a share due to MSU folding.
I must say, I love the cockiness that you guys have sprouted Will make the impending disappointment that much sweeter. Teams w/ no depth and little post play don't fare very well in the NCAA. Plus, your coach has done nothing in the tournament in his 80 years of coaching. The meltdown will be fun to watch.

I like that lineup but would still prefer Stauskas over GRIII. An elite shooter like him opens up the whole offense for everyone else. It's a bonus that he can drive on occasion too.
Gotcha. Burke = Greg Jones may be a better comparison? Came in with instincts, contributed immediately.
Funny how the SCum posters suddenly care about basketball.
Other than all the SEC's national titles recently.
Blatant lie: winning 6 out of 7 games to end the season doesn't seem like a team that needed another team to fold in order to take home a piece of the championship. It sounds like they earned it by closing out the season pretty well.
Completely logical argument: We lost 1 week after you, therefore we folded. Doesn't matter that we played 2 ranked teams and lost to very good teams, the timing of us losing overrides the other 17 games and we folded to give you a piece of the title.
If this logic holds true, the only reason you won a piece of the B10 championship in 09-10 was because Purdue choked. I mean, they lost the day after you to give you a piece of it, therefore you didn't really earn it, it was gifted to you by a folding Purdue team. See how dumb that sounds?
Apparent Strawman: Saying this year will turn out like other years, years in which Michigan didn't have as much talent and and were coached by different coaches, is not very intelligent.
Completely logical argument: Beilein has coached at Michigan for 5 whole years before this year and hasn't accomplished anything, therefore he will not ever be successful at Michigan.
Aside from that being an extremely uninformed statement, it is just ridiculous. Beilein coached at Canisius, Richmond, and West Virginia before he got here, so it isn't surprising he hasn't done much in the tournament in 80 years. Michigan basketball was in shambles before he got here. You don't just come in to a program and rebuild in year 1. Michigan had gone 10 years without making the tournament before Beilein. Now we have been to the tourney 3 out of the last 4 years. We won a B10 title for the first time in over 20 years. This is the most talent Beilein has ever had to coach and he is bringing in 3 guys next year in the top 100 recruits in the nation. The future looks very bright for Michigan basketball. You can keep your head in the sand (just as a large portion of Michigan fans do with regards to Michigan State football) if you'd like, but I am guessing you will be much more disappointed than I will.
I'm surprised he didn't do better in the tournament when having teams led by freak athletes like Novak and Douglass.
