Not really a fan of the two new proposed divisions (East/West) (Inner/Outer)
I love lamp!
+1, first thing i thought of
"Cha-Ching" division and "STACKS ON STACKS" division
East / West makes the most sense; East is probably slightly stronger in FB, but PSU will get wrecked over the next few years.
They have to avoid divisions for hoops though - East would be a murderer's row.
Keep the current configuration, swap Michigan and Wisconsin, and make MSU-Michigan a protected rivalry. That would result in MSU playing every B1G opponent that the fanbase actually cares about on a yearly basis: Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Nebraska. It's also pretty close to an east-west split.
Crips and Bloods
2. Current plus Maryland/Rutgers
3. In her/On her
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
Something that may prevent the E/W split is population numbers. The Eastern division has roughly 52M people (splitting Indiana in 2), compared to only 32M for the west. That would mean 3 outta 5 people in the B1G footprint live in the Eastern division.
For MSU, that would make up losing the chicago market.
I like the "inner" and "outer" split most. By far the most.

I forgot that the divisions were going to be aligned for MSU's pleasure. Hell, even if we were scUM or O$U, the B1G wouldn't kowtow to our will. Moreover, you get into trouble with division split names. L/L is stupid, and who can tell the ACC divisions apart?
I posted this in a different thread, but the E/W split makes the most sense. It's more or less competitively balanced, it's geographically sane, it preserves every trophy game except the Little Brown Jug, and the Illy/O$U wooden turtle, both of which can be taken care of with protected rivalries.
east would be tougher in football than west. maybe north/south?
I don't get how anyone can think being in the same division as Michigan and Ohio State would be good for MSU.
East/West. Keep it simple, don't try to rig the divisions like the ACC did.
Or just have the DE and SB divisions.
I never said it was. It's just the ideal scenario.
HOWEVER ... swapping Wisconsin and Michigan also:
--Maintains competitive balance (though it's iffy with Wisconsin's coaching situation up in the air)
--Puts Wisconsin back in the same division with Iowa and Minnesota
--Gets rid of the stupid rematch scenario for UM-OSU, and also eliminates U-M fans' bitching about how unfair it is that they're the only Legends team that has to play OSU every year while the rest of the division plays ... not OSU.
--Makes Michigan and Penn State yearly opponents
--Still creates a reasonable east-west split
A simpler way to look at it is the B1G's proposed East-West split, but swap MSU and Purdue.

Why should we shy away from playing scUM and O$U?
Go east. This is so easy. How the hell will we recruit if we stay west.
Inferiority issues. Screw playing in Ohio and Pennsylvania yearly where recruits are. Lets play Northwestern yearly because of alumni in Chicago and a watered down West because let's face it we are a slightly above 500 program.
Maybe because playing both makes it more difficult to get to the Big Ten Championship? Which makes it more difficult to get to the Rose Bowl.
To be the best you have to beat the best
How about divisions of "Delany's Favored" and "Bitches", where the winner of "Delany's Favored" gets an automatic trip to the Rose Bowl regardless of the outcome of the championship game?
I filled it out:
2. Current +1
But in the second half of the survey where you make suggestions I suggested switching us and Purdue. The switch would balance out the divisions talent-wise while allowing the Wisconsin/MSU and Purdue/Indiana rivalries to remain intact without forcing them to be crossover games.
This is a Pallas’s cat. Their round pupils give them an odd human quality. They disturb me...deeply.
Given the B1G's love of money, how about Chedda and Benjamins?
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
Super Friends -Vs- The Legion of Doom (these would be delany's favs)
Federation -Vs- The Klingons (again the delany favs)
East/West. Get rid of protected cross-overs. The only game that would be affected is Purdue/IU, and I'm fine with that.
The other option is to switch MSU and Purdue, which does away with MSU/UM.
And you know what helps in becoming the best? Being able to play in the Big Ten Championship and the Rose Bowl.
The conference is shifting east. Staying west is a terrible idea. Particulaty if Michigan goes east and Michigan State gets left behind. The path of least resistance theory is a horrible idea.
