Dont know how to feel
The Chicago Bears ended their search for a new head coach Wednesday morning when they made the decision to bring aboard Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman as the franchise's 14th head coach, an NFL source confirmed.
So...Da Bears are converting to CFL.
♫ Ma-nah Ma-naah ♫
Punting on 3rd down should be fun to watch.
Scott Mitchell's old QB coach
Does that mean the Montreal Alouettes converted to the NFL when they hired Trestman to be their coach?
CFL level hire.
I feel confident in Phil Emery.
Aaron Kromer hired as OC and O-line coach. Peace out Tice!
So is it likely that Kromer will focus on the offensive line and Trestman will call the plays? I assume both will have a hand in designing plays and creating the offensive system, but I'm curious as to who will call plays. My guess is Trestman at this point.
That's what PFT says:
Trestman was hired because of his background as an offensive architect so he’ll be calling the plays while Kromer handles the other coordinator duties in addition to his responsibilities on the offensive line.
Thank you, Denicos.
WOTS is they've already brought in some contractors and equipment to move the goalposts to the goal line at Soldier Field.
It was just a mistake;
I didn't mean to let them take away my soul.
Am I too old?
Is it too late?
So the Bears let Lovie Smith go and hire an attorney to replace him.
Alright, I'm officially sold on the hire...
Newly Hired Coach Marc Trestman is going to make Jake Cutler look better on the field. His daughters will make the Bears look better off it.
Monsters of Mediocrity
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Good article on how this was either a brilliant hire or a completely dumb one. Either way, you gotta admire Emery for not just making a safe hire.
In the middle of a cold January night, the Chicago Bears hit a brilliant home run. Either that, or they struck out wildly. I just don't see much gray
The Bears are going to get penalized a lot for having 12 men on the field or too many players in motion at one time.
just as long as he doesn't call 30 yard passes when it's only 20 to the back of the end zone.
If I am a Bears fan, I am confident Trestman can run a more productive offense.
The question is whether or not he can sustain defense and special teams. If this becomes a trade off - get offense at expense of defense - the results will be the same.
With that said, will the team have to learn the metric system?
Marinelli has been asked to stay on, which should help the defense (not learning new system, etc.) and they have brought in a ST coordinator, but losing Toub will hurt
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
Tim Brown's jaw dropped when he heard Trestman was hired as a HC.
After a bad experience with him as an offensive coordinator, former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown said he was “shocked” the Bears gave Marc Trestman a head coaching job.
I think Lovie Smith proved that the head coach cannot be proactive on one side of the ball and leave the other side strictly to coordinators. Smith was a defensive guru, but clueless about offense. Trestman is an offensive guru, but can he manage his defensive staff and special teams? Time will tell, but I do agree with an above post about Emery doing a good thing by not just making a "safe" hire.

Bet it won't be long before he gives Cutler the boot.
Because there are so many better options out there than Cutler?
Shit, half the starting quarterbacks in the NFL aren't better options than Cutler.
C'mon, man. I don't like the guy, but he's better than a bunch of NFL starting QB's. If that's the way Trestman wants to go, it reflects more on his abilities as HC than on Cutler's abilities as QB, IMHO.
