After 4 days of close encounters with the various Big10 mascots I have concluded that the cat mascots (NW, PSU) are lame. Bucky Badger might be the best of the rest. The Nebraska cowboy dude is ok. The Boilermaker doesn't seem to do much. So I guess my ranking would be:
Bucky by far.
The PSU Nittany Lion-dude seems embarrassing.
The correct answer is willy, and it's not even close
At least I know it's name now
I was always partial to this entry from the Detroit News competition.
I know I'm in the minority here, but to me the PSU mascot is so bad that he's good.
It's hard to like anything associated with PSU after their scandal was revealed. But I did like the Nittany Lion before because he was old-school and the buttons on his scarf change to reflect the opponent.
But I think they ran into trouble this year and might have stopped doing them because the button planned for the Wisconsin game was going to say "Brie 'em to their knees" before the scandal broke...
none of the above
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.

Yep, that's the one that actually did it. Just found the article.
The buttons that are a Penn State football weekend traditions apparently won't be available any time soon.
Citizens Bank, of State College, has provided the buttons for each game for the past 39 seasons. The bear fan-written slogans in support of the Nittany Lions that are unique to each game.
But this week, the buttons have become scarce.
When asked about the buttons, a branch manager in downtown State College said, “We have no comment on that situation” before hanging up.
An employee at another branch said the bank won’t be putting buttons out for the upcoming game or the next one.
The buttons for Saturday's game against Ohio State, and the Nov. 26 game at Wisconsin apparently have been produced, as they were seen at Beaver Stadium during Saturday's matchup against Nebraska.

I agree with this. The nittany lion is old school and cheesy, but that makes him cool.
I know i should know this, but who the hell is this guy? doesn't he ride a bike everywhere?
LOL, is Sparty about to blindside him?
The two best
That's Spirited John, posts here under the name Tanfan.
Bucky is the best but I also love Goldie. He looks mischievous with that big smile.
Purdue Pete is easily the worst in my opinion.
Purdue Pete is awesome!
the sledge hammer, the big head, the hard hat!!!!
The way he stares into your soul...
1st Place: Sparty
All other mascots are tied for Last Place
The lipstick he wears cancels all of that out.
Is Chief Illiniwek still around? I‘d vote for him. Everyone else is either creepy (Purdue Pete, Herky--dude is seriously a creeper), ugly (Goldie, NW, Big Red or whatever the Husker thing is), or both (Brutus, Bucky). Actually, I‘d like Bucky if he didn‘t represent Wisky. But Sparty is miles above any other B10 mascot.
