I hate it when people speculate about something bad that has happened or could happen to the Spartans. I even get a little upset when people speculate about one of our Big Ten competitors, unless there is some credible proof. Bret Bielema is another story, however. I wonder why he had to replace six assistants last year and why he abandoned ship for a reported modest increase at Arkansas. Apart from "wanting to create his own reputation for building something", do you think there's some unspoken reason for his departure? If so, what would/could it be?

You seem to have a lot of hate and anger. I suggest therapy.
He's a dumb shit? Why would anyone leave the program that he had for the sec where he has no recruiting ties, no experience, and will most likely flop.
Bielema knows how important assistant coaches are... He also knows the SEC actually PAYS their assistant coaches worthwhile money, where as the B1G still hasn't realized this
I think he thought they were going to lose to Nebraska, and that it would be a good time to get out...and had his agent cut a deal with Arkansas before the BigTen Championship. Instead they won, and he's bailing on a team going to the Rose Bowl...which does look odd.

Brett Bielema killed 5 transvestites while coaching at Wisconsin.
I think he just wants to spread some douchiness down south. Also the barbecue in the south had to be attractive to him.

The BBQ pork in Arkansas is amazing

You're in college. The window of opportunity to drink and do drugs and take advantage of young girls is getting smaller by the day.
Stop posting that picture!
Arkansas has a smaller population than Wisconsin, but more people that cannot read or write than Wisconsin.
In short, hardly anybody in Arkansas will notice that Bielema cannot tell time.
Dude, can we PAY you to STOP posting that pic?
Nίκη για MSU
1000 humble apologies. I have not visited the board in the post Bielema era at Wisconsin yet.
I think money was a part of it but I also think appreciation plays a big part in moves like this. It's always greener on the other side supposedly. My guess is one, he was never going to completely be out of Alvarez's shadow. Alvarez gets most of the credit for building Wisconsin into a solid BT program and despite 3 Rose Bowls I think many of us here (myself included) and even some in the Wisky fanbase question Bielema's recruiting, coaching and game management abilities. I'm sure when you've gone to 3 Rose Bowls you probably get tired of the critics. Finally, these coaches don't always say it publicly but they want what is best for them not the school. Saban I think quit at MSU because he A. was tired of MSU administration and B. realized how very difficult it was going to be to win constantly at MSU when you have other big time schools near you. I think something like that probably is going on with Bielema. With Meyer at OSU, Wisky is going to have a steep road being top dog in that division and I think he maybe could see that it might not be as rosy in Madison in the coming years and decided now was the time to jump ship.
As far as the assistants thing goes... I mean most likely it's one of two things... either A. they just wanted chances at better jobs elsewhere or B. Bielema was a terrible boss and they wanted away from him.
Stripper wife wanted warmer weather
Simple: he's scared sh!tless of Urban Meyer.
He left because his buyout in the first three years of his contract is 12.8 million bucks
FWIW, I was talking to a UW alumnus at my grad school, and his response to Bielema's move was just "Good, maybe now my friend can get back into that bar." Apparently Biels tried hitting on one of his friends, she turned him down, and the bar kicked her out.
Cool story, bro.
when you go through sluts as fast as Beielema does you can't have picky girls taking up space in your bar.
Fanbase worse than UMAA
AD who refuses to schedule anything but cupcakes in non conf play.
School that won't spend a dime on the coaching staff.
Student body that shows up to "Jump Around" and then leaves.
Arkansas has its problems but it supports its football program.
In the past 11 years, the University of Arkansas has spent an average of $18 million annually on facilities renovation and construction.
What would you do?
Yeah. Cause the SEC West is a cakewalk.
But nobody expects Arkansas to be in the SEC championship game every year.
1. Impossible to have a fanbase worse than the one in AA.
2. Have you seen the pic floating around this board? Bielema likes cupcakes. More seriously, who is impressed with the teams Arkansas lines up for non-conference play?
3. This could be an issue.
4. Don't they play that in the 4th quarter? Isn't Camp Randall one of the louder stadiums in the Big 10?
This is an odd move. Three consecutive Rose Bowls and program stability to a program that spends a lot of money to be a hot mess. Unless Arkansas was offering a big payday, I seriously think about staying in Madison.
- didnt like being under Barry's thumb, wanted to be his own man
- Barry didnt support paying assistants market so they left
- thinks recruiting is going to be easier at Arkansas
Prob a combo of all of the above.
