agree....and also agree with 'COgruff's' take on it as well. Maybe something like recruiting violations are coming down, maybe not. However, I just think he got fed up with the criticism at Wisky, and believe me he WAS criticized heavily there. Biggest thing was he "couldn't win the big one" which was partly true.
Cheesehead Vadgers have been spoiled and have a hugely overinflated opinion of that program. He knew all that and got fed up with it. I mean......LOOK at the guy the last few years, he must've gained 60 lbs easy. What else was he going to accomplish there? With all that they were still all up in his fat arse: so he took the money and ran. I still don't like him but it's America and if/when he fails as boozhoo and Cogruff accurately point out he'll have over 13 million bucks to cushion his fall. Either way he's set for life and so are his kids and probably grandkids.
Can't blame him, just hope they don't hit a home run with his replacement. I'm thinking they won't as that's a harder job than it's made out to be. Especially with 'Don' Alvarez still there: the story about him coaching the bowl game is ALL ego. They could have a new HC in place by Monday if they put their mind to it. SOunds like Alvarez is having a late life crisis. (if I were them I'd look hard at Butch Jones)

Yeah Butch Jones would be a good hire for them.
I made a big mistake on the money: I said 13 mil, but I just read on espn that it's actually 3.2 mil per year over 6 years: 19.2 million reasons to say sayonara to mad town: yeah, odds are against him but that's just TOO much jack to turn down. Damn, meathead got the last laugh on da vadgers.

I laughed. And cried a little at the fact that there are multiple people who actually believe it.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Lost 1 rose bowl to complete shitty coaching- TCU.
Beat MSU thanks to a flag, 3 broken plays and a transfer student last year. In fact, had that great year only because of a transfer student.
Lucked into Rose Bowl this year despite being third best team in his own division and getting owned by MSU.
Only deserved 1 of those 3 berths. Record should have reflected that.
Horrible in-game coach. Complete ass, even his own staff left him.
Coaches from winning programs that are asses and can coach i give credit to, ala kelly and saban. butthead isn't in that league. Heck, he's not in Alvarez's league.
In what way? It's not like Wisky has been recruiting at an amazing clip all of a sudden. They pulled that QB from CA (Houston), but have been at their usual 1-3 4-stars/year pace under BB.
That's really not that much more than what he makes now. I think the biggest change will be the budget he will have to pay for top assistants. This is an area where UW has been pretty tight.
Most people know coach d is a defensive coach.
You have to admit though Roushars performance this year should get close to an F grade...
Outside of the Minnesota and BSU games I thought his whole year as a play caller was horrendous.
Well I guess I have been living under a Rock...
Well good luck to him. He strikes me as an average coach who was blessed to coach in a great system. He didnt build it but he did maintain it.
I don't like this move for Arkansas because he is a Midwestern guy. I guess unless you are a real Xs and Os type of coach I don't see why he would really do much for them.
The 3 straight rose bowls is a huge sham. He wouldn't have accomplished that without the playoff rules changing the first two seasons and sanctions this season.
I am surprised that UW wasn't willing to pay his assistants more money to keep them. Doesn't seem like Wisconsin is as forward thinking as even MSU is in investing in the program.
With that being said I don't think he will have any easier of a time winning in the SEC. PSU will have sanctions for years. Wisconsins only real competition is OSU but in the SEC the whole conference is stacked.
Maybe he thinks he can also poach Midwestern kids ala nick Saban.
you sure? I thought he was at 2 mil per or so...could be wrong...then you have to figure in all the extras too of course.
You do know that Alvarez hand picked and groomed Beilema to succeed him, yes?
Not trying to defend Roushar, but some on here absolutely refuse to think he did a single thing right the entire season. Some believe that every successful call HAD to come from Dantonio, nevermind the man has never been an offensive coach before. I do not think Roushar was very good, but I think that poor execution exacerbated the situation.
Back to Bielema; dude was a good coach. Not an elite one, but a good one. Big 10 is probably weaker without him. Makes the Leaders division the Urban Meyer division for the forseeable future. Then again, who knows who they hire? People thought Boise State would go in the tank after Dan Hawkins left for Colorado, but Peterson took them to new heights. Same with Chip Kelly at Oregon, taking over for Belloti, a very good coach in his own right.
Arkansas is in Fayatteville
And there are many rumors about BA not being happy with meathead over the past few years.... your defense of this Jackass is laughable.
Ah, so those rumors outweigh my fact. Got it.
His record and what he accomplished at UW is not that hard to defend. It speaks for itself.
It was 2.5 million, plus those extras.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. While he may have made some bonehead mistakes in the past he was, in my opinion, a very good coach. Early in his career as a HC he did things in games that would make my jaw drop in amazement (in a positive way).
One particular moment stands out to me against PSU when he ran out the clock prior to halftime with a 4 point lead by executing a kickoff where the ball wasn't kicked until coverage was 20 yards downfield (blatantly offsides) thus preventing any sort of return. Then he did it a second time right after that to ensure that the clock was bled dry.
Anyhow, I think he's a fine coach and the Big Ten is weaker without him. Now... I wonder what Matt Canada is up to next year.
Can we all just appreciate the simple doucheyness of this reply for a moment?
Remember when people thought Bellotti was going to boot Kelly and head back to the sidelines? If Barry goes Hollis with the Rose Bowl, we could see that at UW.
Didn't deserve the first one either. If Tressel spoke up they forfeit wins and MSU wins tiebreaker and goes to the Rose Bowl. OSU's cheating actually put Fat Bret into 2 different Rose Bowls.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
From @pcdulac Bielema was 23-1 vs. Gophers, Boilers, Illini, and Hoosiers. 16-18 vs. rest of B1G.
Add in a 2-4 bowl record and a grand total of ZERO decent OOC wins and it shows BB was a mediocre coach at best IMO. Clearly, Wisconsin had little interest in keeping him around. Maybe he will prove me wrong, but I think he bombs in Arkansas.
If Alvarez does indeed coach the Rose Bowl, Brett Mustberger will need extra tissues in the booth as he will likely call the game with his hand down his pants.
Funny as I typed this thread, a Mustberger promo for the Rose Bowl just played on ESPN.
or that Roushar runs the O that MD wants.
You could also say Coach D is 1-4 in bowl games, 13-1 vs. Gophers, Boilers, Illini, and Hoosiers, 17-16 vs. rest of BIG. Maybe Dantonio has wins over ND, and I'll include BSU as significant wins, in the OOC. I'll take your word that BB had ZERO decent OOC wins.
Still, not a huge difference between the two. Dantonio with a slightly better record against quality opponents, but BB has 3 Rose Bowl appearances and frankly, that's the trump card.
So if you say BB was a 'mediocre' coach, then we're there looking mediocre right back in the mirror. Yet most of us on here, myself included, will say that Dantonio is the best thing that's happened in East Lansing since the 1960's.
