Sources say that as of now that the 7 Big East non FBS schools are expected to bolt to the Alantic 10. If it does happen, expect FBS schools such as BSU and SDSU to bolt as well.
Main issue: money...duh. A-10 hoops is expected to make more money as a 21 team legaue then the Big East would make. This will open up both MSG and Barclays for conference tourneys as well, as the A-10 who currently plays their conference tourney at Barclays, could move to MSG.
The presidents of the Big East's seven Catholic, non-Football Bowl Subdivision schools are expected...

I don't blame those schools for wanting to leave at all. I feel bad for the Big East though. No conference has been boned by realignment as much as they have.
Why? They failed to adapt. A conference that dosent have full membership for a schools is doomed to fail. It took 20 years, but not emphasizing football and slowing schools to walk and adding weaker schools ain't a great plan for siscess.
Big East screwed the pooch years ago allowing ND in for all sports except football. They allowed ND in to take their share of NCAA basketball tournament money, and allowed them to keep their football program and money seperate. Serves them right now..............ND brings nothing to the party without football.
How about UCONN? Nobody wants this step child. Passed over in every conference expansion. President now begging members to stay put.
UConn screwed themselves by using Boston College when they bolted for the ACC.
Big east killed conference USA basketball, so sad still
UCONN is screwed royally. They have a brand new football stadium thst is likely nowhere near being paid off. If them can't land a decent conference, their whole AD could go belly up.
I don't think the Big East did anything to screw itself, it's simply a matter of them not having good football programs, and there isn't much they can do about that. Football money is the primary driver of all this realignment, and Big East programs were always going to be losers in that. Sucks though, I've always liked Big East basketball, even if ESPN slurped them too much after they went into contract.
So the Mountain West may outlive the Big East? Who'da thunk it.
Bye Bye Big East..don't let the door hit you on your way out. Making a deal with ND is like dealing with the devil. ACC is next..when will most of these conferences learn that signing ND to any agreement screws the rest of the conference members.

The MAC would love to add the remaining Big East teams.
I think they expected to get football eventually. IDIOTS

Anybody notice that the conferences that have unequal/sweetheart deals for some (Notre Dame in the Big East and then followed by the ACC; Texas in BigXII) are the ones that have been raided and lost some of their stronger members to other leagues?
I guess I'd expect Cincy/UConn/Temple/USF to fold into CUSA.
Or those 4 could probably sue to keep the "Big East" name, and CUSA would fold, with all those teams going to Big East.....
Which is why the ACC killed itself.
If they hadn't offered ND a safe harbor for their other sports, B1G probably wouldn't have expanded, always hoping that ND would change their mind at some point. Now that that ship has sailed, the B1G has moved on, and will probably dismantle the ACC at some point. Ironic.
The Big East still is a tough basketball conference. Syracuse, UConn, Nova,GTown, St Johns and Seton Hall is a small conference on it's own. They could probably pick up a few Catholic basketball schools like St Joe and Lasalle to remain viable.
It's hard to keep track, but Syracuse will be in the ACC next year.
Ummmm...Syracuse is leaving for the ACC.
They added Tulane, the straw that broke the camels back.
Forgot about Cuse, but I think they started as a basketball conference and they may have to go back to being one. They could probably field 8 pretty good teams. But you are right they are in trouble.
