Why is he talking about the Fab Five instead of our team this year?
I saw the games. I knew they were cheating before the Fab Five. I knew they were cheating during the Fab Five. I knew they were cheating after the Fab Five.
You brought up banners. They don't have them. They are in storage.
and Roger Clemens.
Probably because it's the first time UM has been ranked #1 since the Fab Five.
Vacating victories alone doesn't damage much, but as a part of the total penalty issued to them it set their program back 20 years. It's fine for you if you want to just focus on what they did instead of including how they did it, that's your call. But I can say with reasonable confidence that had the same happened to MSU, I would not bring it up as a bright point in history for the program.
I went to the MSU@UofM game in 1992. Webber pulled up behind Crisler driving a Mercedes MSU won and Juwan Howard threw Monty to the ground as all the Michigan fans littered the court with these stupid noisemaker rattles they handed out. Good times.
Reece Davis was building up the IU um game Saturday and said it's the first time um is number one since fab five days. That's when Knight hit him with the "explain what fab is to me that team never won anything"
YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
Even the winged helmet! Ohio State and Michigan State had it before Michigan.
The sanctions actually weren't bad considering what they did. They got off easy.
They were irrelevant for 20 years in large part due to an idiotic hire (Ellerbee), refusing to give Amaker so much as a video room, and generally treating basketball as if it were the Quidditch team.
Comparison: Kentucky got worse sanctions after Sutton. Pitino had that thing turned around in less than two years. Don't let them off easy by just saying it was sanctions. It was sanctions combined with incompetence.

Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Knights comments went a little something like this:
Fab? Why are they called Fab? The Fab 5? What's so special? They didn't win anything. They never won anything.
BornToBeRed said: WPS, just a head's up. We might be the most family-friendly board on the network, so take it easy on your normal wps-ness.
Haha no, but I think Knight might be. This year's team is relevant, the FF are not.
I understand your pain.
Both Sparty AND Arkansas have won national titles since Michigan has.
Yep. The penalties the Michigan got for the largest cash scandal in NCAA basketball history were basically nothing. They got postseason bans when their crappy team was nowhere near making the postseason. They killed themselves with bad hires and an AD that didn't want to invest in the program.
+1 zilly. I can't stand it when people say UM paid their dues. Eff that. The only reason they sucked balls for 20 years is because they made terrible hiring decisions. It had very little to do with the NCAA sanctions.
It may not say anything to fans or to members of the public who follow college sports, but it says a lot to coaches and players on the offending team.
Great points. +1
I like the cut of your jib, dude.
Thank you, Denicos.
Their legal team dragged it out and dragged it out and did everything they could to not comply. It would have led to nothing if Ed Martin wasn't investigated. After they got a hold of done of his books THEN Michigan decided to "punish themselves".
Why would Knight be "butthurt"? He owned the scUM crooks, fair and square.
The Fab Five embarrassed Michigan. They put the basketball program on the back burner for quite awhile.
At the time that UM announced their self-imposed post-season ban...their basketball team was 0-6.
Because he chose to pile on a team from 20 years ago instead of discussing the game on Saturday night.
But but but ... they sanctioned themselves!!!!!! No more post-season for them!!!!!
