Disappointing but I wish Brandan the best wherever he lands. He's a great kid and he had to be frustrated with his role regressing from last year.
Disappointing news but understandable that he wants more playing time than he can get here. Best of luck to him in his future.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
Disappointed. Yeah he was a role player but was a very effective role player. Excellent on-ball defender and capable of knocking down outside shots. I remember him doing a pretty decent job on Burke last season.

Mojo made room for Green
*Wilson* made room for Payne
Sherman made room for Harris
*Jabari* and Kearney will make room for __________.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
The staff might have seen this coming to some degree, which is why they have heated up on Josh Cunningham
If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension
Best of luck to Brandon. I liked him a lot last year and thought he'd be a perfect "program guy" (David Thomas, Thomas Kelly, Travis Walton type) but he just wasn't making open shots when he was out there.
Hope he transfers to a smaller school where he can play a lot. Best wishes to him.
I have the same question. Isn't this poor timing?
I'm disappointed. I liked his defense and rebounding. He's not a star at any level so I don't know what he expects. He's gotten WAY more PT in his first 1.5 years than anybody projected for him. He's destined to be a solid glue guy and he was doing it well.
Says the guy taking shots while hiding behind a keyboard...

I can't say I blame Kearney for transferring. Four games against real opponents, and he's had less than 10 minutes in all of them.
Can't remember, but did he play in the 2nd half of the Texas game?
I'm not surprised at all that he is transferring, what surprises me is the timing. If he was unhappy, why not move out before the season starts, or after the season ends? Gotta think his family was involved in the decision, right after one of his weaker games against Texas.
Best of luck to him. He's going to at a minimum bring defense, rebounding, a decent ability to handle the ball to any team in the country. Definitely has to work on his offense. Always seemed like we were playing 4 on 5 on the offensive end (6 games where he made a FG, 7 games where he didn't).
One more thing: Denzel Valentine does a lot of what Kearney does. With Valentine finding a spot in the starting lineup, it was always going to be hard for Kearney to get the PT he wanted.

Sucks, Harris ate all of his minutes though.
I liked him, but the whole still a UM football fan thing always irked me.
You don't keep a guy on the team that's leaving so would assume he's done now.
The moment is eternal
Kearney's obviously a very passionate, emotional kid(witness last year's meltdown during the tourney game) and I've loved that about him. I think he just wants to be a difference maker on the court.
I know he might be showing bad timing here, but how would he "know" where he stands for the future without going out and seeing how things play out so far this year? He had to test himself up against the results of Valentine and Harris, etc..he is slipping behind. He might not have, but he had to go out there and find out.
Good luck to him. I think we're all gonna wish him well and I hope it's not at focking Iowa State.
There is romance in all of us
Leaving now he will be eligible 1/1/14.
I don't know anything about transfer rules but does doing it during calendar year 2012 impact his availability for next season?
Disappointing, thought he played an important role on this team. Will be interesting to see where he lands, good luck.
Just never gets old.
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
Kearny to UM?
Did Sterling Brown sign a LOI at SMU? The Larry Brown to Nets rumors were swirling this morning on ESPN.
Can't transfer within the league.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Not true anymore.
I think the rule has changed.
