nah...who wants a player who knows he's leaving? you shake hands, wish him the best, and move on. And he's leaving now because he'll be able to play as of January 2014 wherever he transfers since he can enroll in January there and fulfill the 2 semester off rule. guys do it every year. So effectively he'll miss the non-conference games for EMU or whoever and then jump in for the conference slate, and then have a full senior year. If he waited till the end of the season he'd be looking at waiting until November 2014 before he plays again. That's a long time off.
I wish him the best, but the kid needs to learn how to dribble left if he is going to do anything at the college level. He was a promising defender, and was getting some decent court time.
Your average UofM fan and I have something in common, neither of us went to UofM. Though we do share One major difference, I got Accepted.
It is nice to see that in a thread about a guy who walked away from the school and left his teammates out to dry, the rcmb can still find ways to take shots at a current Spartan whose fellow players voted him a captain.
If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension
Not this. He's redshirting the next year and picking up right where he left off as a sophomore. He'll have 2.5 yrs of eligibility left.
I really dislike this.... We can't have players transfer especially a player like Kearney. He would've excelled perfectly as a role player and contributed.
Tough loss especially before Big ten Play
Look at it from Izzo's chair.
Do you need a player who gets his head filled with ideas that question his original LOI decision as a possible mistake on your bench, in practice, traveling and talking about how unhappy he is with his role?
Feel bad for Nix and Izzo and the other players who are willing to work hard and dedicate themselves to trying to win a championship.
Dominating Press Conferences Since 2007
great point...it's truly addition by subtraction. Frees up a scholly for next year too: sure the kid played good D' and was athletic BUT he truly was an offensive liability...moveon.org
couldn't agree more, but his heart wasn't in it and it's best to go now: this has been building for quite some time I believe....+1 for your take though
Completely disagree, losing a player who averaged 17 min a game halfway through a season is never addition by subtraction.
Players play, tough players win.
we aren't adding anything this year...this is subtraction by subtraction
Signing day isn't til April.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
ok, still won't be adding a player this year
it is when his heart and head aren't in it.....accept it and move on. I agree with earlier poster: someone got in his ear over the holidays and the kid believes he's deserving of something more than he's getting. Adios
Props to Coach for releasing BK without restriction.
After Dooley hung Arnett out last year amongst others it is good to see a Coach not invoking a poison pill. I'm with most who thought BK was a solid contributor. Wish him all the best.

He was not a prolific scorer in high school. He averaged like 15/game. In the state tourney I watched him play and against quality competition he had a very tough go of it. That isn't to say he wasn't doing well in other parts of the game, he just is not a dynamic scorer. I just don't see him as a scoring star if that is what he wants, anywhere at the D1 level. I actually think that Izzo is going to appreciate his types of skills more than most coaches at big programs. He is going to regret this later on IMO.
I might sound like a homer, but I don't view this as much of a loss. It's a kid that got good minutes against garbage competition and limited minutes against good competition. I mean, he's putting in roughly 15 min a game right now but that was surely going to dip closer to 10 minutes in Big Ten play. Kearney and Byrd offer basically the same thing. So Byrd gets more minutes now to miss 3's like Kearney and turn the ball over. Aight. Frees up a scholarship spot.
Yeah thats the thing I don't get about this whole thing. Izzo, unlike most coaches, finds time for guys like Kearney that aren't great scorers but do other things well. I don't really understand sacrificing the NCAA tourney and all the cool shit we do to go a smaller school just to be "the guy". I guess its just personal preference and I hope it works out for him, I enjoyed watching him play
Selfishly, I wanted Kearney to blossom like David Thomas did for the program. I wish BK all the best...
was it calipari that came via helicopter the last minute to turn kearney
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
It's just poor form to use two different handles in the same thread.
Where are the rumored destinations for BK?
