I miss the traditional Big Ten. I miss the days when the Rose Bowl was always between the Pac-10 and Big Ten. I miss the days when the national championship was always settled by the end of New Year's Day night.
I think it's one of the reasons I like Dantonio so much, he would totally fit in with the Big Ten coaches from that era.
I know, it may well alter the way I follow the Big Ten. The league has been diluted and we didn't upgrade. Especially in academics.
Just like every thing else, change is inevitable. I like those days too and I also want to go back to the days of no cell phones (as I type on my phone).
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
Guess I'm an outlier here.
Just about anything that moves the B1G away from the perception of 1970s, Bo and Woody, three yards and fall down I'm fine with.
The choice of schools I wasn't wild about, but I don't mind the changes overall for the most part.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
I can appreciate the sentiment, but change ia the only real constant in life. Remember, once upon a time there were those stating that they missed their traditional Big Ten that featured Chicago and who the hell did Michigan State think they are thinking they belong as a member.
I miss the days of v bulletin and when this board wasn't corporate owned . #OopsThatsNotRight
I'm sick of internet message boards. I yearn for the good old days when I would just walk into a stranger's house, call him a cocksucker, and then make a joke about anal sex.
Keyboards are about $20. Send me a check.
Actually the board has always been "corporately" owned (and hasn't ever changed ownership.)
Should have left well enough alone after adding UN. Once PSU was added you needed another team, but that should have been it. Instead television revenue determines things and that's where they go off the rails.
To be fair, both Rutgers and Maryland are at least middle of the pack in the Big Ten as far academics go.
What is it you're disagreeing with? The site has been an LLC for over a decade, and that LLC is still under the same ownership.
I don't mind the expansion, but I really miss college football being over on New Years Day.
Nebraska was an excellent addition with regards to football and both Rutgers and Maryland are ranked ahead of MSU in terms of nation/worldwide university rankings. Cue "old man yelling at clouds" picture.
Funny. I feel the same way about the rcmb. The old board with decent mods. Wild Wild West. Hilarity. Dsfs.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
You beat me to it.
congrats on being old
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
the mods and upvotes/downvotes ruined it. More in common with mgoblow then the old rcmb
Things change. If the Big Ten stayed the same back in the '50s, MSU wouldn't even be part of the conference.
The blowers were kept in check. The voting system is the dumbest thing ever invented. It does play into the insecure mindset. Internet tough guys. It's all they got. Losers the lot of them.
Are we feeling a little nostalgic tonight Trevor?
Nίκη για MSU
Imagine what will happen if cable is forced to go ala carte....then all of the sudden Delaney is fucked three ways to Sunday.
I always get nostalgic during bowl season because it's when I most notice how much college football has changed. I can usually ignore it for most of the preseason and regular season.
Perhaps he's talking about the "network"
Trevor, FWIW, I agree with you.
