If true Pelini is about to become awfully uncomfortable
Tennessee is narrowing down its search for a head coach. Now there seems to be a new man on top of its list.

"I think the world is run by C students"
wow....meathead to arky and butch jones to UT.....both good coaches but such odd fits for that region of the country. I don't care what anyone says, those fanbases clamor for "one of them" On the other hand if they win, it'll all be good. I think Bielema will win 8-9 games per year at Fayetville and continue to lose the big games. He's solid but not in the class of the $EC elite coaches. Jones? Dunno for sure, but that's no longer a marquee job and hasn't been for quite some time. My gut says 6-7 wins per year and mid level bowls for 4-5 seasons then he'll be fired. I don't think it's a good fit....at all.
The guy goes by the name of Butch. He should fit right in.
Ouch, If Jones goes, does Cincy come after Narduzzi?
Nίκη για MSU
I agree, and said that above, but I still think he won't make it there. Tough job and he doesn't have ANY recruiting inroads in that area of the country. Should be interesting to say the least: hell yeah, I think Cinci comes after Narduzzi and as I said on here a few days ago that's a natural fit for him as he has kick ass recruiting ties in Ohio and specifically the Cinci area.
The bad news for us is two fold: we lose a very good DC and recruiter: big loss. He will also go head to head with us in Ohio and has great contacts at schools like Moeller, Canton Mckinley, etc....it will make things that much tougher for us in the recruiting arena BUT the fact Coach D' has expanded our footprint to Pennsylvania, Georgia and Florida is very timely.
Now for the good news: if Pat succeeds like I think he will at Cinci he can absolutely come back here in 4 or 5 years and take over for Coach D'.......

So, the fan bases clamor for "one of them" but if they win its all good? Isn't that every fan base?
Everything I've heard is that Koombs is the guy, although I am sure that Duzz will get a look if he wants one.

Butch Jones is a Saugatuck High grad who did coach at WVA for a year or two.
He was smart not to take the Colorado job. The state doesn't produce a lot of football players. Stadium seat 53,000
The fans in Knoxville have filled 102,000 seat Neyland for many seasons and are hungry for a return to winning. You can hire quality assistants and have a lot bigger recruiting budget when you can sell tickets for an extra 49,000 butts in seats.
Cincy will DEFINITELY come after Narduzzi. In fact, he's probably the ideal fit for them. Strong recruiting ties, knows the culture, and is a great defensive mind. Good place for him, too - Big East is getting watered down. More "breathing room" to get used to the head coaching biz.
As much as we believe Narduzzi would be a good fit for Cincy, I don't think they will go w a defensive specialist for HC.
Cincy needs to put fans in the seats and I think they stay w a spread O guy on the mold of Kelly/Jones.
No worry this year for Narduzzi leaving. We storm through next season and its another story.
He might have earned some inroads during his two years at WVU.
Position coach (WR) for 2005 and 2006 season. Returned to CMU as head coach in 2007.
did see this thread, sorry for my other post.
Looks like the offered, according to EVERYONE on twitter. The UT faithful will take some time getting used to this.
Cinci was DDooleys Signature win after all.
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
That's what LSU fans were saying when they first got Nick $aban.
It doesn't take too long for people to stop caring. Saban is from WV and his ties were all to the Midwest. Les Miles is from Ohio and his ties are mostly to the Midwest. Urban Meyer is from Ohio and almost all of his ties were to the Midwest.

As opposed to our fanbase (especially on this board) who would be totally happy with a "southern" coach.
I wouldn't mind. The South is where football is king. A Southern coach might be able to get some of that talent up North.
Can change the title to: Butch Jones HIRED at Tennessee, Press Conference at 2:30
You know what gets fans in the seats? Winning.
Also, seems to me it's only a matter of time before Cincy leaves the Big East for either the B1G or ACC. If that happens, having a tough defense will become far more important,
I don't understand why you think it's some lock that Narduzzi stays at MSU
Vols fans hate this hire already. Butch lost to Dooley
my favorite post from VolNation
"I have to say I found living in the delusion of Gruden being coach far more enjoyable than the reality of Butch Jones."
Russell Smith @RussellWNOX
#Vols fans just got "Butch-slapped" first thing in the morning!
Russell is a radio guy, does the afternoon drive show with Terry Fair
Dave Hart needed to hit a home run with this hire. He just grounded out weakly to first base.
@RussellWNOX Our parole was denied for 3 more years after the 3 year sentence with Dooley
Twitter is going to be awesome today.
Cincy is never going to get a big10 invite.
