Yeah he definitely pushed off but Olynyk had already broken toward the backcourt so Jones had a free run at the ball.
Can't blame Jones for pushing. He had nothing to lose and was either going to make a play, or make the ref blow the whistle. A foul there is probably the 3rd best option anyways, with forcing a turnover #1 and fouling a worse free thrower #2.
It was the correct play for Butler to make, for sure. But the correct play for the refs to make was to blow the whistle.
Roosevelt Jones completely pushed Olynyk out of the way to "intercept" the inbound pass. I could give a shit less if the Butler or Gonzaga won the game, but it was clearly an offensive foul that got Jones the ball and enabled him to win the game. If that had been someone pushing an MSU player out of the way, this board would be on full meltdown mode. Cheap win by the Butler Buttholes.
Luckiest college program I've ever seen bar none, college football or college basketball. Have they ever beaten a legitimate team without some cheap bullshit at the end or the other team fucking up? Let's take a look:
--Kansas State regional final 2010 - Double OT, Win
--Michigan State final four 2010 - No foul call at end on Draymond, no foul call on FT miss on the Roe hold underneath, Win
--Old Dominion first round 2011 - Buzzer beater, Win
--Pitt second round 2011 - Gets one of the most boneheaded fouls ever on Pitt in the final 2 seconds of a game while behind, Win
--Florida regional final 2011 - Double OT, Win
--Marquette Maui 2012 - Buzzer beater, Win
--Indiana 2012 - Basket in final five seconds, Win
--Gonzaga 2012 - Buzzer beater, Win
They're a joke. Two things are going to happen with Butler. 1) They aren't going to jump up on teams anymore and 2) Those buzzer beater shots are going to start going off iron. Do I respect Stevens? Absolutely. But as the saying goes sometimes it's better to be lucky than good and that has applied to Butler all along.
Well, they did work over UNC pretty badly.
tRCMB - Where MSU fans eat their own.
The had to play good basketball for 40 minutes to get in those positions to begin with.
No doubt, but to go 8 for 8 in those situations? Hope for their sake they keep that up because they won't be getting it done on skill... literally the only break they haven't gotten in three seasons worth of big games is a half court shot against Duke in the title game and it still almost went in

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I think he's going to go the Mark Few route and be a Butler lifer. He seems grounded and won't let his ego control his decision making.

Doesn't matter. K will choose his successor. Might not have been that way under the last AD, but it is now.
