California coach Jeff Tedford will not return for his 12th season with the Golden Bears, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday.
Tedford, who turned around a program that went 1-10 the year before he arrived, had three years remaining on his contract. He finishes 82-57 at Cal with five bowl wins in eight trips.
With all of the recent openings in the SEC, what kind of coach do you think Cal is going to get. I would have waited until next year to get rid of Tedford but i know a couple people on here wanted him gone after the o$u game
Jeff Tedford is out at Cal after 3-9 season.
Can he coordinate and offense?

Has he ever been to a Turkish prison?
John L. Smith to Cal
Not sure if serious but he was Mike Belotti's OC at Oregon before taking the Cal job. Would be an amazing hire - but I doubt we could pay him near what he would cost.
Still remember that beatdown that Cal gave us in 02 with Kyle Boller at QB
As you may remember, he took over a 1-10 Cal team and in his first year came to Spartan Stadium and obliterated BW's squad. At that time it became very evident Cal had hired a good coach and we hadn't.

With 3 years left on his contract, he may be sitting collecting Berkley paychecks rather than lose them by taking another coaching job. Depends upon what his contract language is and whether it is a straight cash buyout or Cal is off the hook early should he take another coaching job.
IOW, to hire him a new employer might have to exceed his current HC salary he may be collecting from Cal.
If we were serious about winning, we'd fire roushar immediately and give this guy whatever he wants to be OC.

Tedford's inbox is filling up now for OC jobs. And he'll get another shot. Did some great, great things at Cal.

Okay, Tedford's never going to agree to be OC, but can we at least fire roushar immediately?
I always feel bad for coaches who get hired just because they did well enough to raise expectations in the first place. That said, this guy has been a horrible game-situation and motivational coach for the 6 years i've lived in P-10 country. His teams always look asleep and bumbling. No way would he be any good for MSU.
I see your point for Tedford as a head coach, but even as an offensive coordinator? That said, he's probably not going to go here, and Dantonio probably won't pick him up regardless.
I am sure MSU will be late to the party.
Rumor on tBB (unsubstantiated) says Chris Petersen may be interested. He's basically shut down every other offer though.
Don't jump on the Tedford band wagon so fast. Cal's offense has been less than stellar the last couple of years and they've had some players. The Cal alumni that care (probably in the minority) are ecstatic that Tedford is gone. And I'm not so sure he's going to be inundated with offers, either. His ship has sailed. He'll need to redeem himself somewhere else before he's given another HC job.
Spartans ...committed to bring Paul Bunyan home in 2013.
new football facility, refurbed stadium, access to cali recruits, perfect setup for him
The problem for anyone going after Petersen is Dan Hawkins - Petersen saw what happened to him at Colorado and has decided he's got it really good so why change that? Similar to Few at Gonzaga and Stevens at Butler. Their predecessors have proven that the grass isn't always greener.

I agree. But Cali isn't too far, the talent pool is far greater, and as a university there's way more appeal.
He could be a Bronco for life, no doubt. But I think he'd consider it. From what i've heard, the only two jobs he is interested in are Oregon and Cal.

If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
I was out there for the Cal Washington game a few weeks ago. Stadium club area is incredible. Completely modern and very luxurious but all built within the confines of the old coliseum setup, very well done.
Plus, in the club area we had tickets to, free unlimited beer
Or he could take a job and be collecting two very large paychecks...
