As a Lions fan, I respect the hell out of Lovie and expect him to find a head coaching job soon -- like within the week, and certainly before next season starts. That being said, sometimes good coaches need to move on for the betterment of the team (see: Reid, Andy). I put Lovie in that box, even though the complaints the GM had about the offense were IMHO more to do with draft picks and inexplicable lack of attention to the offensive line (and failure to address bad draft picks for the offensive line) than anything Lovie did as HC.
Thank you, Denicos.
I loved listening to Emery talk about the offensive line last week at his press conference. He was asked a simple question, and instead of giving a simple answer, he decided to go on for 10 minutes about the state of the offensive line.
He talked about how the Bears were 26th out of 32 teams this year in offensive line production (according to Stats Inc, and he also explained that they trust Stats Inc. due to extensive research on how they come up with their stats). Of the 6 teams ranked lower than them this year, 3 of them are playoff teams and the 49ers were ranked 25th. You can win with a below average offensive line, and he explained that there was no need to draft offensive linemen just to draft them. Nobody had a high enough grade when it came to their picks in the first couple of rounds to justify taking them. And he felt Alshon Jeffery could help the offense more.
He also went into specific names that were available on the free agent market last year and how they graded out compared to what was already on the Bears' roster. It was awesome listening to him explain everything. Any Bears fan needs to listen to that hour long press conference if they haven't already. I have complete faith in Emery going forward.
chargers interviewed smith yesterday.
I'm not sure if there's a realistic coaching candidate out there better than Lovie.
Delusional moron lions fans are surely hilarious. Morons are happy with mediocre and think other teams should stay mediocre too. LOVIE SMITH SUCKS BALLS!!!
This is the guy who is 18-43 against .500 competition the last 5 or 6 years.
He has lost 9 of 10 to the packers
He is as stubborn and enthusiastic as a statue
He loves to suck his old friends' from Tampa and st. Louis' balls
He is a douchebag
He thinks nothing is wrong with the offense and nothing needs to change or adapt
E had 4 OCs in 5 different years
He loves gross man and old ass players that were good 15 years ago
None of his 1st rd draft picks have panned out.. EVER
He loves trading down draft orders
Yes let's keep LOVIE and his shitty philosophy of run, run, pass, punt
Sorry u must be happy with mediocrity in Detroit, but Chicago is not. Enjoy your thuggish lions
I have an MBA...Master at Being Amazing
You're the bears. Not the packers. Not the patriots. Not the steelers, giants, cowboys, or a dozen other teams ahead of you. Your glory year (singular) is going on 30 years ago and the only thing people outside of Chicago know/care about that team is what they gather from SNL superfan skits.
You're the monsters of mediocrity. Congrats, your shitty season was better than the lions shitty season. It's also cute that any fan of a team with Brandon Marshall is going to start tossing around the thug label.

Bears fans calling Lions fans delusional
Lovie wasn't in charge of drafting dickweed...not his first round busts or trading down.
And is some logical consistency too much to expect from you? Nothing is wrong with the offense in his mind(according to you), but he has had 4 OC in 5 years? That seems to me that he was trying to do something about the offense.
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
You have a cheap owner. You won't make a Super Bowl in the next decade; D is old and OL is crap. Forte is beat up and Cutler is not a leader.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Your QB is a head case. Look at every successful NFL franchise in the last 10 years. Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Warner, Cousins (in the future), etc. They're all leaders, not nut jobs. Good luck winning with that.
the cheap owner crap is and old tired bit and not true anymore. Was Halas cheap back in the day? Yeah. Does old woman McCaskey have anything to do with the team? nope. Look at the money they have spent on FA in the last 3-4 years brought in peppers, taylor, manamalalua, barber, gave new contracts to Briggs, Forte, Urlacher, and Cutler
I would love to see that. They obviously effed (controlling my language for you Trevor!) up. Maybe they can pull a George Costanza and just act like it was all a big joke.
They're the bears for chrissakes!! Ditka! Butkus! Payton! Refrigerator derp perry!! Herpa derp!! Is Brady Hoke available derp!!
Did you seriously put Cousins in the same sentence as those other guys?
Rogue you are a moron. You think anyone who says ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING critical of MSU is an idiot and a UM fan. Its people like you who give MSU a bad name. You are nothing but a blind homer. I bet you have a poster of Dan Roushar in your home and think he is the best OC MSU ever had. I bet you also though JLS was a god when he was here just because he was attached to the name MSU
Anything you say is irrelevant. The bears destroyed the lions and will continue to do so with that thug filled team. Tell me how many people will get DUIs this offseason from the lions. Already have to count Suh for one. Who else will be next? Fairley? Leshoure? Delmas?
Homerism at its finest
Please tell me what trouble has marshall gotten in since he got to the bears? Atleast he is changing. Can that be said about any lions player? Is leshoure busted for weed again? Suh for DUI? Its only a matter of time before domestic battery and other charges come out against that thug team
Truer words have never been spoken
How the hell was the 49ers O-line ranked 25th? They just dominated the Packers yesterday. Were they somehow terrible at pass blocking during the season?
I don't have an answer to your question because I didn't watch the 49ers enough times this year, but here is the video of Emery discussing everything...
GM Phil Emery addresses the media and answers questions regarding the offensive line and offensive production.
Domestic violence? Ahhhhhh a Brandon Marshall specialty. keep trying sucksCalvinsjohnson
What the hell is that supposed to mean??
You could of stopped after the 1st sentence...
Man, CJ has some insane anger issues. Good Lord.
