Agree. There isn't a good alternative in DC.
I've spent some time at Public for Iowa games this season, the ISU v. Iowa game in particular, I would say they have similar number but Public is set up so much better for game watches.
Cap Lounge's set up is really unfortunate but there's nothing anyone can do about that and the waitresses and bartendresses could stand to fucking smile and pretend to enjoy the businesses once in a while.
The "watch committee" I think has done about as good of a job as they're capable of given the resources, venue options, venue staff and alumni/fans/attendees they have to work with in the area.
Have you been to Dan's Cafe? The ultimate dive bar.
Also the Pug on H St. is a good dive bar.
The problem is no matter where you go if you want something better than Bud Light, Miller Light, Yuenling, Coors you're going to pay for it. I dunno what people here drink but its unreasonable to say, "Oh this place looks like a shit hole, I should be able to get Bell's for Bud Light prices!"

I love that place.
I always get SO bombed if I ever have a night that includes Dan's. Correlation doesn't equal causation though so I'll never stop.
The Big Hunt was my favorite spot in DC. They also have an old school Tigers pennant on the main bar, so it won me over quickly.
There's also a dive bar on Penn Ave past Cap Lounge that I went to a couple times...they had PBR on tap.
All that said, both of those options are not cheap.
not being cheap isnt really an issue, just seeing more if they do a special or something, my buddy who lives out there probably knows some spots, but i assume we'll be in the cap lounge on october 6
Oh, it's a cool place. And they put the State game on for me and some chick from Georgetown tried to take me home with her. It was a cool place. Unpretentious, fun, good beer selection. Big Buck Hunter. Tigers pennant.
But like you said....It ain't cheap.
Tune Inn. Just reopened. Too nice inside to be a dive bar anymore. Needs another like 50 years.
I had a girlfriend so I didn't.
Yeah like I said I think it's like 3 buck crap beer 4ish for Bell's.
which brings me to my next point....
I would get a fucking boner if ANY of this information was actually on the ya know... website...where people put information 'n stuff
but don't worry there's all the info you can fucking handle about last year's $100 a head Green and White Gala and there's some burried twitter feed because DC Spartans is constantly blowing up so hard I wouldn't dare miss up to the minute news from them via twitter.
yeah, noticed there is no gamewatch info on dcspartans
