True, but OP is shopping now. In lieu of waiting to end of Q4, he can and maybe should wait until end of month and preferably end of Q1, when sales staff are motivated to meet their quotas.

all true.....I bought a new(er) Impala a couple years ago from a private owner and paid about 2k less than they were going for on local lots....screw the dealers and used lots: buncha parasites in general. Try autotrader.com..........excellent site that will let you put in multiple search parameters for the best deal in your area. I've bought 3 cars on it before: never an issue.
PS-the Impala has been good: nice mileage at 30 highway and 24ish city and very reliable: solid car. Malibu? Nah.....
