Well by reading this board I get the impression that Byrd probably won't get any better and MSU should trade him now for two sixth round picks in next years draft.
I would argue that Harris would probably scoring more because the team he is on needs him to score more, at least as it stands right now. Also the reason why I went based on points was simply because that seems to be a stat that everyone loves when it comes to bball. Their intangibles and bball IQ will expand throughout the season, like most freshmen do as they learn how to play on this level. Once again the point is, Michigan's Frosh seem to be already playing at a high level, I mean I swear Stauskas hits every shot he takes (EXAGGERATION) and Robinson seems to be a major steal from the state of Indiana (guess Crean didn't over-sign enough).
I don't think it is ridiculous to say that the Frosh have a better chance of coming down to Earth a little bit rather than saying that they will be Kentucky-esque one and dones. Michigan is a very good team that is playing some really great basketball right now, and I will say again, from what I've seen they look every bit the top 5 team they are ranked.
All he's doing is laying the case for why MSU will get better and UM wont. Nothing more. It's nothing more than wishful fandom.
Huh? What makes you say these things?
I guess you can say that. After the way MSU's fb season went we all need some wishful thinking no? I will say again, I think UM is playing like a top 5 team, so how much better can they get? In short that is my point. I am not looking through green colored glasses like you imply. Please go back and actually read my posts. I'm consistently giving the utmost respect to the way Michigan has started their season.
Michigan is a lot closer to the top than MSU, so yes MSU has more room to improve, while UM does not. Not saying the team won't develop more and has hit the ceiling, they are just closer...that is all.
You should really stop lying to yourself. I'm not saying Michigan's going to the Final Four, but the Wolverines are absolutely "Final Four good."
I didn't mean to imply that you were wearing green colored glasses at all. Simply take it at face value; it is one of many scenarios that could happen and one that all Michigan State fans should be hoping will happen. I get ya...
My feeling is that both set of freshmen will get better, with Michigan State's probably improving more simply because they have more room to improve. (Similar huh)?
c'mon, Giant Moose...you know full well that the posts that are posted on this site have a direct connection to how well MSU will do on the court/field. If MSU does decline, it will be specifically the fault of the posters on this board.
Good lord. I love MSU and hate scUM, but I can admit when scUM has a good team. I've been to 3 of their games this year hoping they'd suck it up, but they are fucking legit. Luckily we don't play for a while because they have certainly looked better than MSU thus far. Why do some people on this board get their panties in a bunch every time a writer says something good about u-m? Chad Ford's forgot more about basketball than most of us will ever know.
Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
That has been more point the entire time. That is all, not that UM is bad or won't get better or that MSU will end up being world beaters. I mean I hope they will but for me to believe that right now I will have to drink a lot more kool-aid and put on my green tinted glasses.
I really hope that MSU gets there and honestly watching the team develop (while frustrating at times) is fun and part of the reason why i enjoy college bball so much. Should be a fun season with all the talent in the Big Te..err...12..err 14 or whatever it will be by next week.
Every chad I know is an idiot.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
"BECAUSE F*CK SCUM! THAT'S WHY!"
I agree with you. Some people, like I've said before, operate in a zero-sum world.
Michigan's good coach and updated facilities is a big part of their recent success with recruiting , but i agree with you about State having the higher ceiling. I could see them getting bounced early in March, because when they play teams with strong big men, Mcgary will get owned.
It's the rcmb. The largest collection of homers this side of New York. The homers have run off most of the posters who spoke out against them. Now we have mods who are blowers and now in charge. Think Martin spartin. You either follow in lock step or they seek your banning. Just wish izzo could develop better bigs and land a decent three point shooter. Safe to say Byrd is not the answer. Glad to see he is out looking to finally recruit nba talent for a change.
They are bigger and stronger now that they can afford and Big Mac thanks to me.
If umAA doesn't make the final four, it would be a failure of a season for them.
But, they can beat anybody and I wont be surprised if they do win it all this year. Just have to prepare yourself for the endless walmart bandwagon hoops fans that is this winter.
Quone, to quone something. Like a patient gets difficult you quone them.
Will Horford and little big dog get better?
They are pretty good. No one has even been close, w/ the exception of NC State.

Pitt isn't that good of a team and they led until about 8 minutes left in the game. Even then it was a 3 point game with 13 seconds left.
They are a good team. Have no talented Big Men, so that;s where we attack them. Would also like to see a team run on them.
Nick Stauskus is the player who is going to be a killer to play against. He's the best shooter to enter the NCAA since JJ Reddick. If he keeps it up all year, he will be their best player IMO. Kid is just a sharp shooter.
B___ has an eye for underrated talent like Dantonio does. Stauskus was maybe a top 75 player according to the rankings, but he's easily one of the top 10 freshmen in the country IMO. Robinson was not rated highly until well after he committed to scUM. Of course McGary is the stiff we all thought he was, but he's at least a big body to run out there. Burke was a good player in HS, but no one thought he would sniff All American in college.

I don't think anybody here has watched Pitt play and can make a judgment one way or another. You can only look at rankings etc at this point in time.
Pitt ranks 11th in Ken Pom- they are 5th in adjusted offense, 36th in adjusted defense. Their SOS isn't the greatest at 242 but when you look at MSU they are 14th in Ken Pom, 40th in adjusted offense, 5th in adjusted defense. MSU SOS is 162. Their SOS is better than Pitt's but I am not sure what the difference is in opponents when you compare 162 and 242. When you look at who's ranked 162 you see it's Columba and 242 is Eastern Washington. Columbia is probably better but the quality of those teams is not that good.
If we know anything, it's that backup centers usually dictate how far you go in the tournament. It's a pretty easy formula for success.
Just going by subjective stats like scoring (60th) and rebounding (233rd) and Oakland taking them into OT. If you can't rebound for shit and Michigan got a ton of calls and it was still that close?
Will find out in march about this team, that's what it's all about for me. I said it before the season, I don't care about the Big Ten... I want a tournament run, final four or bust. This is Michigan's best chance at it in awhile and with the potential departures next year who knows what the roster will even look like in future years. There is no dominant team in college basketball this year,(Sorry not buying this Indiana crap). Only comment I will make on this thread is, Michigan plays 5 FRESHMEN WHO ALL GET SOLID PLAYING TIME now that the redshirt is off Levert(They are essentially fazing Vogrich out of the rotation) along with the ongoing rotation of 3 different centers during the course of games... I think it's ludicrous for people to say this team has peaked and can't get any better. They are way to young and have way to much talent, what's up for debate is whether they actually get it done in march.
