Boyfriend had an awesome venison harvest this year. I don't have a real hunting bug but want to try other ways to process venison. We've already cured and dried 30 lbs of jerky - amazing stuff. Looking into building a cold smoker. Asked for a hot smoker for Christmas present and am getting that. So a lot of good food in the works. Any links?

Never tried cold smoking but there is a big thread here on smoking. Maybe if you post in there you'll have better luck.

Good way to cold smoke is to take an aluminum baking tin, put wood chips in it then put the tin in a charcoal grill or smoker. You then keep about 5-6 hot coals in the tin. Gets a ton of smoke going and keeps temp low. So in short - if you get the smoker, he should be able to do it.
