it looks as if the catholic 7 are going to keep the Big East name (which I am glad)
to be joined by Xavier and Butler and "a.n.other" for fall 2013
then St Louis, Dayton and Creighton for fall 2014...
nice league being set up there....
who is the "a.n.other?"...
and .... discuss....
The Catholic 7 schools are expected to start their own league next season and will keep the Big East Conference name, sources told ESPN. Joining the Catholic 7 schools in the new Big East this fall will be Xavier and Butler, sources said.

VCU would be a good fit
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
Except for the whole not a catholic university thing.
Edit: On second thought, I rescind - Butler isn't Catholic and I don't know about Creighton. Kind of disappointed in the C7. I thought they would try and go all Catholic.

I wonder if it's UConn, but they don't fit the mold in anyway shape or form. Gonzaga fits the mold, but location is a factor.

Or *audible gasp*
laconophilia is everywhere...
Why isn't U of D considered as a candidate for this league.
Dayton is... Oh, you mean UDM?
creighton is catholic so it fits... UDM would be a great shout and would fit, but is it "big enough,
I didn't realise what the WCC in which gonzaga is in is basically made up of catholic schools (obviously except BYU)... so no real incentive for them to leave
Duke would make sense considering the secrecy of the "other school yet to be determined"
Except to shut up the "BUT WHO DOES GONZAGA PLAY????!?" crowd. Oh an $
But Duke has no incentive to join now. If UNC were to leave the ACC, Duke could then join at that point. Duke is they're holy grail I assume.
Unless they already know that UNC is leaving...
UofD should sell their soul to get into that conference. Instant credibility.
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
Also could be ND if they're going back to FB independence.
tACC is allowing FB independence.
Did you intentionally misspell a word to give it that JYD feeling?
Virginia Catholic University is not a catholic school?
I wonder if ND would have almost preferred waiting and put all their non football teams in a "catholic conference" and keeping the independent status ... I think they may have jumped the gun...
Wonder if they could get out the acc deal?
That's the whole efffing reason these schools broke off, was to get away from "football first" schools.
Nevermind, my post made no sense. I am curious who they add.

The article is more fleshed out now. Creighton is the favorite to be the 10th school next year, with St. Louis and Dayton joining the following year to make it a 12 team league.
Pretty good conference.
Edit: It's worth noting that the article says ND may try to land there for a year next season if they can't join the ACC next year. I wonder if the C7 would put Creighton on hold for a year and have ND be the tenth next year. However, I would expect that this won't come to pass. The ACC will probably welcome ND with open arms as soon as they can break from the Big East.
