..FWIW I think Maxwell will start vs. WMU but if things don't go well, Cook will get ample opportunity to unseat him. Come to think of it, even if things go well, I think he'll get some good PT.....we need Maxwell to succeed and after reading the stat in here the other day about the 66 drops last season I really think he can be SERVICEABLE if the receivers get their act together

This isn't really new. I do believe that both QBs will get a fair shake here. If Cook has developed his decision making skills, I'd like it if he started.
You can just about guarantee that both qbs will get time, we need 2 qbs with playing experience.
Separation of some sort would be very nice.
I like Cook's fire. Didn't know MD plans on using 2 qb's into the season. May the best man win.
When you have 2 QB, you have none

Yeah this is almost always true.
"We'll play anyone, anyplace, anytime!" - Tom Izzo
"Certain guys do different things better than others,'' Dantonio said. "Connor Cook, we tried to do some things with Iowa. He didn't come to fruition.''
. Is that in reference to the QB option play on 3rd and 8 Roushar called from our own 10 yard line?
Worked for SCe last year
That is not a fair example cause the ole ball coach always plays 2 QB's and isn't afraid to make a change when things aren't going well, regardless of who's fault it is.
If Coach D's gonna play 2 QBs, I'd rather he'd just play Cook
unless im mistaken i think 2 qbs are going to be used for the first three games and then they will pretty much go with one
I don't think it's gonna be 2 QBs a la Nichol/Cousins. Imo if Cook wins the battle outright, there's no two QB system. Not worth getting Maxwell too many reps since he will graduate. If Maxwell wins, then Cook probably gets a few series early in the season plus cleanup duty. Then if we have a lead of 10 points he probably get a drive or two in a conference game.
Remember the mess that was Nichol and Cousins?
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
We might even see O'Conner getting some plays in if he steps up in that situation.
I don't know if he starts this year but I honestly believe that Cook will be the starting quarterback before his time at MSU is done.
Quite a difference between the Maxwell interview and the Cook interview.
Just like the Cousins and Nichol interviews were...

A) MD stated that he's getting next year's QB playing time in the early games, so MSU doesn't have the situation they had last season.
B) IF a QB hasn't stated the case to start in camp, they'll also have an opportunity in the early games.
C) Even if the staff decides they have a starter after camp, they will still play other QB's in the early games.
D) Please not '09 again.
Not a maxwell fan. Hopefully he will make me a fan this year.
He does not strike me as a playmaker. His yards per attemp and yards per completion has always been super low. Even when he got reps in 2011.
He needs to not be afraid to make mistakes. Even if you try to play mistake free you will always make mistakes so you may as well go out swinging.
Cook strikes me as more of a gunslinger. He is not lacking in confidence.

Maxwell is hearing MD say a major factor in who plays QB is decision making, not being a gunslinger. As far as the stats go, the WR's have to run the right route, hang onto balls, and GET OPEN. All of which there were problems with last season.
"This year, there's a sense of hunger, there's a sense of anger, hatred, just a pissed off feeling, just sick to your stomach,'' Cook said."
I'm sold. PUT IN COOK!

Yeah, me too. This kid wants to win, and his attitude is infectious. I think he makes the players around him better.
That was one spectacularly fucking stupid play call.
Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
A) We've seen plenty of QBs be successful without having game experience
B) If Maxwell doesn't solidify himself as the starter, then it seems to me Cook should be the winner. You get a guy that's seemingly just as talented, and you also get the opportunity to provide that experience you want so much.
C) I really hope this is not the case, as I feel it's a waste of time. Again, if making sure you have a guy who's ready for 2013 is the most important aspect of the first quarter of your season, then just start Cook and have him be the guy
