Some on the ship reported sewage sloshing around in hallways, flooded rooms and trouble getting enough to eat after a fire in the ship's engine room Sunday left it drifting in the Gulf of Mexico. Passengers dragged their mattresses onto the ship's open deck to stay cool and get away from the nasty smells inside.
"The odor is so bad, people are getting sick and they're throwing up everywhere," said Brent Nutt, whose wife is aboard the ship.
Oh well, beats another port call in Nassau.
A Carnival cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico with about 4,200 passengers and crew is being towed to Alabama after a weekend engine fire, the cruise line said.
i got stuck on a norwegian cruise ship in the port of houstn with a dead engine. about 103 degrees, no air conditioning, no toikets. everybody had to go out on the deck to get cooled off. they wouldn't let you off the ship. and they were SELLING people $3 bottled waters.
that's the last cruise I'll ever take. fucking cattle cart with some ports of call mixed in.
Cruises are for people who want to travel but don't know how to travel.
Going on a cruise in three weeks. Very excited!
Meh, they are getting full refunds, airfare home, and another free cruise to take in the future. Sounds like a good deal to me.

It's funny, that's the same thing that happened to me the last time I was in Ann Arbor.

it's about compulsive eating with scenery.
i wonder if they will get their vacation days refunded at work?
That surprises me. The cruise lines are notoriously cheap about making good on these types of situations. A lot of times they'll offer a $200 credit if you book another cruise, but they only give you that if you berate them on the phone. Maybe they've learned from past mistakes.
If it wasn't for this, i'd take a poop cruise.
I would rather hang out on a stinky ship in the Gulf than go to work this week.
Fucked up vacation and living in sewage and vomit for days on end? Yeah, sounds sweet to me!
I always thought cruises sounded like a floating Denny's, this one also adds a touch of the bathroom at Rick's.
Same thing happened to a couple we know. Their ship got in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico with no land within 75-100 miles in a dead calm when the ship experienced an electrical fire. No refrigeration, no running water, no flushing toilets.
Took almost 72 hours for some ships to show up and pull then to the nearest port.
Their story killed any desire to take a cruise in the Caribbean or the Gulf of Mexico. That cruise from SF or Vancouver up the Alaska coast still looks tempting.
i need an accountant for my new start-up. am's gorge-atoreum. people will recline on barcoloungers under sun lamps and a big screen tv with pretty caribean scenery. then we will attach a fire hose to their fat fucking pie holes and pump preblended, shitty quality food into their gullets until they are about to burst.
you can get the whole cruise experience for about $299 in about an hour and you walk out tan so your stupid friends will be impressed.
It's like going swimming at the public pool but you never go home.
Don't post poop!
Carnival.. 'nuff said.
Is there a fitness facility included?

If the toilets aren't working, why not have a rotating group diving into the ocean for a little , you know, swim? Its probably a great shark deterrent.....
I remember in elementary school reading those cool books where you flip the page and it opens up the ship. Thats when I learned how pirates/sailors pooped on a ship.
They had little rooms that hang over the side, or just nets, and you basically poop through holes down 20-30ft to the water. Sounds like fun.
This however, does not sound like fun. Never really wanted to go on a cruise or support cruise companies before. Now I definitely dont...
"Can I, get ya something to drink?"
Family members being interviewed on the news are pretty hilarious. You can tell they are being instructed to sensationalize this.
"My family is lucky to be alive"
"There is raw sewage in the halls"
"My family was told to poop in bags"
Ship is cursed, just killed a person while in port:
MOBILE, Ala. -- Officials say a Carnival cruise ship that had been disabled for days in the Gulf of Mexico has broken away from its moorings in a Mobile, Ala. shipyard. The U.S. Coast Guard tweeted Wednesday afternoon that high winds are likely to blame for the Triumph becoming dislodged.
