Ha, this is hilarious coming from a Walvie. You probably didn't notice how bad he is because it's your dick in his mouth every night.
What, I'm a Walvie because I said Burke didn't undercut Appling in that other thread? GTFO.
Tirico is a great play-by-play guy, but the insecure ones here think that because he lives in Ann Arbor, he must be a Michigan slappy.
I like Tirico. He's not always pro-UM... he's talked in the past about how his son attends Izzo's basketball camp and generally has nothing but praise for the program.
To be fair, in the last few minutes of the game, when Dakich was talking about UM playing these 4 tough games in a row, it was Tirico who chimed in saying something to the effect of, "I understand the schedule, but I think this is more about the Michigan State players."
But having said that, Tirico's homerism came through really bad a couple of times. When he was whining about Burke's charge on Appling, he just sounded desperate for anything to go UM's way. It also annoyed me when they came back from a commercial and talked about the national championships of each team. "There was Magic Johnson and that 1979 team, and then that GREAT run in 1989 by the Michigan Man Steve Fisher, and then Mateen Cleaves and company in 2000." Really seemed glaring how he sounded like the 1989 UM title was so much more special than the others. But you know, it's not like that 1979 game was at all instrumental in vaulting both college and pro basketball to the forefront of the American sports scene.
There were some other annoying things, too, but I did love how Dakich would turn almost everything back to MSU.
Tirico is a walvie troll hack and ruins any game by constantly talking up scUM. He could be a very good PBP guy, but his homerism always takes over, including last night. If not for Dakich shutting him down like the Spartan Defense shut down the B___ 3____s.
The only reason Tirico calls these local games is because it's cheap for ESPN to send in the local guy.
Though the would have been useful, I don't think it was necessary.
+1 for AStubbs7, -1 for you know who.
You don't get the MNF gig by being a loal hack.
I'm really not a fan of Tirico for play by play. He's boring and the passion /excitement seems manufactured. He should stick to pro sports where that's expected. I would've loved to had Gus Johnson or Kevin Harlon calling that game in that crazy atmosphere last night.

Once again, you guys are reaching to look for things to bitch about because Tirico lives in AA. He called a partial game and credited State for how well they were playing during the game. If you asked anyone who watched the game and didn't know his affiliation with the state and asked them if he was partial towards one team, I'm betting most people would say he wasn't. Give it a break.
Tirico may have talked up michigan a whole lot last ngiht, but he always talks up State when they play any other team. He is the best PBP guy you are gonna get on ESPN.
Dakich tearing up former michigan player Anthony Wright on twitter:
Dan Dakich @dandakich 21m
“@ItsAntWright: Shut up Dakich”...ur the biggest underachiever n the history of Michigan hoops..notice they started winning when u left??
Dan Dakich @dandakich 20m
“@ItsAntWright: Shut up Dakich”..seriously I watched u dog it thru games..what could u possibly coach
Summary: Wright tells Dakich to shut up - Dakich calls Wright the biggest underachiever he has ever seen and questions how he could ever currently coach anyone.
Wow. That's actually a reason I hate Dakich as a broadcaster. That's a little ... unprofessional.
Ok, bro. You know he went to Syracuse, right? And that he has no affiliation with U of M other than living in Ann Arbor? Your imagination is taking over.
You left out the part about him being a UM football season ticket holder. It's not just a matter of his city of residency.
I don't think he hates State by any means. He may not have been impartial throughout, but his bias did come through a few times. Whining about Appling taking the charge on Burke was pretty bad, as was making a bigger deal out of UM's 1989 title than either of MSU's. There were a few other blatantly homerish things he did that I noticed at the time, but can't recall now. He's generally professional, and I respect him as an announcer, but he lets some bias slip from time to time.
Dakich is aware they're from Scotland. It was pretty obvious he was telling a joke. I have to say i didn't like his comment after Dawson was hit in the face, saying guys from his area (where Dakich is from too) are usually tougher. Dawson looked to be in concussion territory.
Dakich is interesting, I'll give him that. I think he doesn't realize that there is a difference between the level of criticism you can have for college players vs. pro players, and he should sometimes have a little more restraint in the things he says.
If he could do that and downplay his obvious love for all things state of Indiana-related, he'd be pretty solid.
That twiter exchange with Anthony Wright is hilarious.
Dakich can be a goof and can be annoying, but I don't mind him that much.
I didn't really mind the commentary last night. Tirico has some unhinged haters on this board because of the Ann Arbor thing, but he's generally OK. However, I forget if it was Tirico, Dakich, or both, but I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT JOSH BARTELSTEIN.
I actually generally like Tirico, but he should NEVER be allowed to cover a game between um-AA and MSU. His preference for one over the other shows through his attempts at professionalism. He was not a total homer last night, but he was a closet or unintentional one, all too often. It would be like having Dakich or Knight cover IU / PU. Likely something bad would happen.
My Blood Runs Green.....
I like him. For a while the only thing I knew of him was ripping the Dawson punch and all the shit you guys sling here but for the most part I enjoy his commentary. I didn't have any issues with he nor Tirico last night. I think some people are just really sensitive of others' viewpoints on msu.
I still don't understand why people have the sound on to listen to usual bullshit.
If that hack Tieman wasn't doing radio pbp for us,,,,,it sure would make it a heckuva lot easier to turn off the tv sound !

i thought the EXACT SAME THING. MSU has two national championships that have transcended college basketball.
1979 nuff said. the game that changed everything.
2000 with mateen cleaves, also a game changer and a senior that came back for his last year to win a championship with his mates.
scum in 1989 were bunch of cheating bastards that got away with highway robbery, yet there was Tirico making it a point to emphasize the "great michigan men and steve fisher", one of the worst coaches of his day in the B1G.
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
I cant wait to watch the DVR replay of this. I wonder how loud the crowd will be coming in through the digital surround. Dawson's dunk put the volume to "11" for the rest of the night. Shit got REAL. Loved every second of it.
ESPN did put a graphic up after a TV timeout showing magic's stats and burke's stats. but i dont remember them talking much about the graphic.
Really? You think travel budget affects game assignments for commentators? The production crew is from all over the country but they're cutting corners on traveling the commentators? Lmao.
