Damn I thought we had a shot with this kid would have preferred he went to LSU, but it's still better than Michigan.
Agreed! Would have been a nice get for us but better LSU or OSU than scUM. Maybe this can be the start of a breakup of the pipeline as OSU has Damon Webb and we have Drake Harris for the 2014 class. The gates are open!
Drake Harris isnt a Cass Tech player. You are thinking of Deon Drake.
We do have Drakw Harris, but also Deion Drake from Cass Tech.
Yes I am. Thanks!
I always get confused who's at Cass and who's at GRC. Damn similarities with their names.

and I don't think he cared about academics. Yet if Webb is serious about academics he can get a good education at Ohio State.
Personally it's probably lip service for mom and dad, but hey, whatever.
Eh, i don't think it is as bad as you seem to believe. Sure, they've had some high-profile duds in the football program, but the rest of the athletic dept. is probably pretty solid. The baskektball team seems like they've been good, relatively speaking, under Matta. And the kids in the non-revenue sports are pretty much the same across the board in the B1G. I would wager that even Northwestern isn't that far ahead of the rest of the B1G, when taking all sports into account.
Can't seem to find any numbers, but i would be shocked if the "athletic academics," lol, are really all that bad when you don't let dudes like Cardale Jones and Katzemoyer influence things.
I'm skeptical, but i guess i could believe him, re: academics. It is a really good school, just like MSU and UM, and maybe he has a program in mind he is fond of. Wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world.
But the mindless bashing of OSU academics is idiotic. Reminds me of the worst of the Walverines.

I surely hope that you aren't an MSU alumnus....if so, you don't reflect well upon the academics at MSU....to wit: "Our academics are a helluva lot better than THERE'S (sic)."
Actually I am. Class of 2003. I wrote it in a rush but yes I know it wasn't the greatest of posts. Not a big fan of their school and I was pissed that we didn't have an opportunity with this kid.
Kid has good grades trust me how come the kid couldn't just want to attend OSU cause he just felt it was right for him.
You are way off regarding Northwestern. They are like Stanford / PAC12, Vanderbilt / SEC and Georgia Tech / ACC.
You don't get into any of those schools with a 17 ACT, algebra, geometry and one year of biology but you will get into any other school in their respective conferences with those NCAA minimums.
I think CDJ's point is that most non-revenue sports aren't able to stretch the admission standards as much as football/basketball (and maybe even hockey in MSU's case). Hencem the all sports portion of his post. If you take those two out of the mix, I'd bet that the average entrance scores (gpa, ACT, SAT) of the remaining non-revenue athletes would be pretty much spot on with the general student population.
US World News report has 9 B1G schools in the top 30 public universities in the country:
Penn State #13
Ohio State #18
ALL of these schools are extremely good academic universities and the disparity between them is so small. Not saying that OSU is 10 times the school as MSU (they're probably almost even) but to say that OSU is some crappy school compared to MSU is stupid.
How am I a troll when I am an MSU alum and was pissed that Damon Webb committed to OSU? Did you think I was referencing scUM when I said ours? Please explain. I'm very confused with that comment on how that would be considered trolling.
I am aware of the rankings however you seem to hear more about issues with OSU football player academics than MSU player academics. My comment was a heat of the moment comment after his commitment and as I said I was quite pissed at the time. I feel that just a week or so before we had a thread on here about our chances with Damon and the recruitment of him. Just would have loved his recruitment to play out a little longer and give us a chance.
