77 consecutive PATs without a miss - a new MSU record.
Good catch, Dave! I often think field goal or PAT kicker is the toughest job in the world. You sit on the bench until it looks like you might be needed, and in the case of field goals you kick a few practice balls into the sideline net, and then tens of thousands, or maybe hundreds of thousands on TV, watch to see if you can make it. That's a pretty heavy load.
So Congrats, Dan!
My mistake. 78 straight PATs. Broke the record of 76 held by Raynor and Swenson.
Nice for Conroy. Too bad the red zone offense (or just offense) wasn't more efficient or he would have broke that record in about week #4.

The only bright spot for this season for Conroy. Has had a less than stellar senior year after a dream season as a junior.
Quite impressive considering how few chances he had this season.
I really don't want to get into a back-and-forth on this, but have you ever thought about what it must be like to be the only guy on the field (other than the center snap and the holder) who will determine whether some points we really need will tally or not?
Without Conroy's performance last night, MSU doesn't go to a bowl game. Heavy load on someone who is what, 20?
Whatever. That is not a surprise to anyone, especially the kickers. They chose that position.
If Conroy has the year he had last year, we are playing in Indy this weekend, and basically a guarantee that we go to a BCS game even if Wiscy pulled the upset.
Amazing that considering all the frustrations the offense had, we very easily could be 11-1. But we aren't, the offense was poor and Conroy was worse. Not like his misses were 50+ yds. They were in the 25-40 range, which a major D1 kicker should make over 90% of the time. Spare the new snapper and holder routine.
If Conroy had missed every kick, it woulda been 12-10.
Everybody knows Conroy has struggled this year. There are 100 threads on this board bashing him, so go bump one of those if you need to. This one is to congratulate him on a record.

If "ifs and buts" were "soup and nuts" MSU football would have a general store the size of the Mall of America.

Good to see Conroy in the record books. Congrats Dan.
Field position is changed if he misses though.
