I'm not sure what to make of the comment, other than it sounds like he's taking Roushar under his wing, as in assisting him and mentoring him and helping him. BTW, I don't know that I'd fire a guy midseason, but I do remember Nick Saban taking over the defense from Bill Miller in 1999 so something along those lines has been done around here.
This year has just made me too frustrated. I keep trying to leave this board for a couple of days but its too addicting.
I keep telling myself its just a game and I should chill out, but then I remember that at one point I really thought this was a year the Spartans would made some loud noise, get a RB or more, especially with so much talent on defense. Then everything just went up in flames and I honestly don't see how this offense can get it turned around in one year. There are huge problems and questions--including at QB. The team reminds me of 2000. Bobby Williams won 5 games with a true Freshman QB named Jeff Smoker and a bruising RB named Duckett. We lost 14-0 at Michigan. No Bowl game. Bobby Williams won 5 games with a true Freshman at QB. Maxwell is a 4th year Jr. He is better than the results we are seeing.
Its five o'clock somewhere.
Guys like Maurice Joseph for one. Izzo pretty much put the writing on the wall that he'd never play. I'm stating it pretty harshly when I say run off, but that's effectively what happened.
Yeah, you are. Izzo was probably just honest about where he saw mojo fitting in to the lineup and Mojo decided he wanted more than that. I don't know how that's different than any of the kids who have transferred from the football team for pretty much the same reason.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Roushar getting some kind of "Special Assignment" where someone else takes over the play calling but Roushar is still the OC and is involved with game planning and doing his special assignment. Then, at the end of the season Dantonio will will make a decision one way or the other.
I feel good about someone else doing something better with the talent that we have. Mattison took that "Bare Cupboard" that Dick Rod left and did some good things with the D at scUM even the first year, why couldn't something like that happen for MSU on O? I know the O-line is an issue, but I refuse to believe that our talent level is such that a better OC couldn't get more production our of our existing players right away that Roushar currently can.
Give them NOTHING but take from them EVERYTHING.
And then Izzo helped him land on his feet. That's ONE kid and please don't bring up Tom Herzog, it will make you sound like Blanch.
Dantonio himself came in and got State to a bowl game in year one, in spite of JLS shoddy defense the year before. Let the QB coach or someone else sit upstairs and call the plays.
This team almost got beat by EMU. That's utterly insane. There is plenty of talent on offense, even after injuries.
Of course Izzo helped him. Not sure what your issue is with Herzog. He wouldn't have played either. Izzo made that pretty clear so he left.
Why are you and others so invested in defending these wealthy, highly paid coaches? I just don't get people's seeming blind loyalty to guys that quite frankly live the good life. In the real world, people get fired pretty quick for this kind of mismanagement.
I will defend Coach D and Izzo, all day. It's not blind loyality because the Dantonio has done a GREAT job here. We ALL get that Roushar has failed. Beating it too death here is just gettting old for me.
and yet, here you are, flailing away.
I love coach D and Izzo like most everybody else does. I'm sorry, seasons not over so I haven't gotten all the frustration out of my system. I'm afraid more fail is on the way this weekend unless something has changed this week. I'm also really concerned about what will happen against Nebraska, at home. I have these visions of OSU from 2006 and that darn O-H-I-O. I don't have tickets for NEB right now and honestly I'm not inclined to go seek them out at this point either. My son has hockey games on Saturday afternoons so I'm probably going to be spared anyway, depending on the start time.
And BUMP! What a fucking disgrace

At this point you might want to twist his neck and shove him out of the nest...
Roushar is a cow-bird: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_Bird#Behavior
That wing must be smaller than my dick based on this shit
4 states of being in the cannabis society ------------
Which one are you??
Okay, this made me laugh...
A friend with VIP just told me Roushar is coming back.
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT
Bottom line, if Roushar screws us for another year, Dantonio is on the hot seat. Part of leading a program is recognizing when you need to let go of certain personnel. If you can't make the decisions you need to make to move the program forward, then you can leave.
Dantonio is damn lucky that Cousins and crew were able to hide Roushar's idiocy for one season.
Is this news?
I was holding out hope.
They really need to move Roushar back to the OL and make some major changes in the coaching staff that include the offensive game plan designer and the wide receivers coach.
If loyalty is the reason that Dantonio won't fire/demote Roushar. Maybe Roushar should resign out of loyalty to coach D to make sure Dantonio doesn't loose his job.
